The majority religion in Indonesia is Islam, which is practiced by over 200 million Indonesians, though other religions such as Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and Confucianism are also recognized. Indonesia has over 17,000 islands and is the world's largest archipelago, spanning over 5.8 million square kilometers of water.
