Spotify uses metric alignment and A/B testing to optimize user experience across their many autonomous teams and platforms. Education and automation are key to ensuring widespread adoption of the aligned metrics. Presenting results from A/B tests can demonstrate how certain features and functions impact vital metrics like daily and monthly active users, and teams are organized as a people as a service model to best implement optimizations.
Spotify strives for team autonomy and independence. This means that no team should be blocked by others and they should be able to move as fast as they can. The autonomy has is a challenge for managing a centralised and coordinated experimentation infrastructure and analysis. This a talk about how we approach A/B testing in a fast moving company.
The squad life - a recipe for self organising geospatial teamsElise English
Our future is an increasingly uncertain place, with consumer expectations and technology rapidly changing. The geospatial industry needs to be more adaptive, collaborative and creative if we want to ride the waves of disruption and deliver on our potential for growth.
Although national coordination is needed, we don't need to wait for it. We can all play our part in growing and developing the industry and the role geospatial plays in each of our domains.
This presentation presents a starter recipe for creating and empowering self organising geospatial teams in an agile and nimble way to improve the way we work and lead us to deliver more innovative geospatial products and services.
HOW SPOTIFY STAYS LEAN FROM SMALL START-UP THROUGH RAPID-GROWTH (JOAKIM SUNDE...Lean Kanban Central Europe
In a few years Spotify has grown from a small startup in Sweden to a pretty big company with more than 30 engineering teams in four different development offices on two different continents. And we have no intention of slowing down. Such rapid growth carries big challenges. How can we continue to improve our product at great speed, while growing the number of users, employees and supported platforms and devices? How do we stay lean and agile when we grow from a small startup to a big corporation? In this talk we will present how Spotify is addressing these challenges. We will talk about autonomous squads, tribes, guilds, hack weeks, road managers, and a lot of other ideas we’re experimenting with.
The development difficulty of an application with many lines of code is well-known. Whenever several teams need to work on the same source code, there are going to be collisions and a waste of time. To deal with these and other problems, teams employ the microservices architectural approach.
In this talk we will discuss microservices, continuous delivery and how teams can work in such setup

Gain new insights on how to deliver higher quality software even faster -- with less unplanned, unscheduled rework. If you are using open source components as part of development you may be unknowingly sabotaging your efforts by introducing known vulnerabilities – shockingly there are 24 vulnerabilities in the average application. Hear the results of an extensive analysis of open source usage across 106,000 development organizations. We’ll be drawing analogies between modern software development and traditional manufacturing supply chains, focusing on proven steps to improve speed, efficiency and quality. In order to keep up with the demand for new functionality caused by the explosion of new music delivery channels, the Broadcast Music Inc. IT team has undergone a revolution in capability over the last 4 years. It began with an initiative that adopted agile software development techniques paired with IBM Rational Team Concert (as well as RQM, RRC and Focal Point). The strategy was to continuously improve - and this has led their DevOps team to add UrbanCode Deploy to the mix. Join us to learn how their DevOps pipeline capability across their broad software stack (includes IBM BPM, Portal, ODM, Integration Bus, Data Power, Enterprise Service Bus & WSRR) has been further optimized with the inclusion of UrbanCode Deploy.

Let's explore why you should have an API, how will it influence your business, why you should think about a monetisation seriously. There are a whole bunch of existing models that can help you find the right fit for your API depending on your roadmap.
Finally we take a look at the distribution of APIs to developers. Like any cake, you need to make sure it looks and tastes great to be able to sell it and be a leader!

Where defects in the industry are counted as defects per million parts produced, a developer introduces an average of 70 bugs for every 1000 lines of code produced. We immersed ourselves in the experiments of Sadao Nomura, who launched Dantotsu "Better than the best" activities in Toyota factories, a 3-year program capable of reducing defects by 85%.
The tech practices, visual management, and tools of Dantotsu inspired us to:
- Eradicate the root causes of a bug within 24 hours of its detection
- Identify "weak points", typical problems that require strengthening the training system
- Create a culture of quality where everyone shares their solved bugs
We cover the theory of Dantotsu radical quality and the experiments we ran before October 2022.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. "Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
Let's dive deeper into the world of ODC! Ricardo Alves (OutSystems) will join us to tell all about the new Data Fabric. After that, Sezen de Bruijn (OutSystems) will get into the details on how to best design a sturdy architecture within ODC.
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
