Team A vs. Team B
Throughout the
company, conflict has slowly
risen, along with tension. The co
workers have different opinions
on how to handle the account of
the company’s most important
client, Coco-Puffs.
• Team A feels Coco- Puffs deserves a
more traditional campaign devoted
to long-standing fans of the product.
• Team B feels the time has come to
reach a new demographic by
incorporating things such as social
networking and celebrity
endorsement.
Different Solutions:

•

Come up with a compromise (Have a
campaign with a special well know
celebrity.
Go with Team A’s solution
Go with Team B’s solutions.
Do none of the solutions above.
Come up with a new plan that works with
both sides.

Possible outcomes:

Team members will be satisfied with a
compromise.
No team members of the company will be
happy if one side is chosen over the other.
A new plan might result in
tension, however, at the end of the day the
problem will be resolved.

As manager, I have the authority to take
action. I cannot let the managers of
department become upset with the final
decision. Therefore, it’s important to
handle the conflict in an orderly manner,

Help come up with a solution that
works with both teams.
Get a manager from the department of
managers to make an executive
decision.
Talk to both sides of the teams
calmly, and tell them to work together
into creating a campaign with a
celebrity.
Talk to the manager and come up with
a new solution for the conflict.

Team members on both sides will be
satisfied with a compromise
Getting the attention from a manger in
the department of managers might
cause more tension, and alert them
that the company isn’t strong enough
to handle sales for Coco- Puffs.
Talking calmly to both sides will
reduce tension and help the problem.

Managing conflict in a professional setting

  • 2. Team A vs. Team B Throughout the company, conflict has slowly risen, along with tension. The co workers have different opinions on how to handle the account of the company’s most important client, Coco-Puffs. • Team A feels Coco- Puffs deserves a more traditional campaign devoted to long-standing fans of the product. • Team B feels the time has come to reach a new demographic by incorporating things such as social networking and celebrity endorsement.
  • 3. Different Solutions: • • • • • Come up with a compromise (Have a campaign with a special well know celebrity. Go with Team A’s solution Go with Team B’s solutions. Do none of the solutions above. Come up with a new plan that works with both sides. Possible outcomes: • • • Team members will be satisfied with a compromise. No team members of the company will be happy if one side is chosen over the other. A new plan might result in tension, however, at the end of the day the problem will be resolved. More info: • As manager, I have the authority to take action. I cannot let the managers of department become upset with the final decision. Therefore, it’s important to handle the conflict in an orderly manner,
  • 4. Different Solutions: • • • • Help come up with a solution that works with both teams. Get a manager from the department of managers to make an executive decision. Talk to both sides of the teams calmly, and tell them to work together into creating a campaign with a celebrity. Talk to the manager and come up with a new solution for the conflict. Possible outcomes • • • • Team members on both sides will be satisfied with a compromise Getting the attention from a manger in the department of managers might cause more tension, and alert them that the company isn’t strong enough to handle sales for Coco- Puffs. Talking calmly to both sides will reduce tension and help the problem. A campaign with a celebrity would As a Team Member
  • 5. More info: As a team member, it’s important not to choose a specific side, because if I’m trying to come up with a solution, I cannot be biased towards one team. Therefore, I will have to stay neutral throughout the conflict
