Editor's Notes
Much like your digital footprint gives the world a picture of your life, you have a “message” that is summarized by every form of communication you exercise. By being intentional about your online activity, you can create revenue streams by sharing your message. Even if you are not interested in profiting from your message, you will benefit from the knowledge of how others profit from your online activity.
What we will look at
Defining and Managing Your Message
A few Platforms and options for Monetizing your message
Website
Social Media
Offline options
Examples of known people with a known message
Les Brown - You Have Greatness Within You
Tony Robbins - Unleash The Power Within
John Maxwell - Leadership
These are known motivational speakers, but think about people in your respective area or industry. Who are the experts? Who is often referenced and quoted or used as sources? How about not so popular people you follow on social media and look forward to seeing what they post? Even just the funny stuff you look forward to hearing.
Whether you realize it or not, you have a message that someone is waiting to hear, however small or large your audience is is or will be. But if you don't spread it, those that need will never get it.
This presentation is not about finding your message, and we simply do not have the time it takes to go into how to know what you message is. But think about your life experience, what you often find yourself talking about, ways you generally help people, thing like that will point you in the right direction.
Many of you probably already know what it is and may have online activity around it.
Much like your Digital Footprint that was just discussed, you can tailor your online footprint and activity to "brand" yourself and your message.
I don't want to regurgitate the digital footprint presentation, but the difference here can be thinking as much as possible about everything you share and online, being strategic and mindful about how it helps or hurt your message and brand.
Although, this presentation is about Social Media, you should have website. A lot can be done with social media alone, but a website serves as a central hub where everything links to and gives you more control.
There are easy ways to setup websites if you want to do it yourself, and it can be free or very inexpensive to do so.
If you don't want to do it yourself, you can always pay someone to do it for you, depending on your budget of course.
Before we do anything else, it's important to understand the concept of blogging.
Blog: a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page (Dictionary.com)
People at any level can and do blog. From everyday people, to industry experts. So can you. When wanting to share your message, a blog is a type of website you should consider and what many people use.
14% of bloggers earn a salary through blogging. Let's look at how...
