This document discusses Kirkpatrick's four levels of training evaluation and how to determine if a training intervention is cost effective. It defines cost effectiveness as calculating the financial costs of a training program and comparing it to the financial benefits seen as a result. An example is provided of a one day workshop on running effective meetings for 10 people, and how improved meeting efficiency from the training could result in time savings equivalent to £7,680 per year. Improved teamwork and structure in NHS settings is also noted as being critical to positive patient outcomes.
