Exercise Malabar is an annual bilateral naval exercise between the United States and India that has expanded to include other countries like Japan and Australia. The exercise is conducted in the Bay of Bengal and involves various activities between participating vessels from the U.S., Indian, and other allied navies. These activities seek to develop coordination and tactical capabilities through professional exchanges, gunnery exercises, and anti-submarine warfare training. Past Malabar exercises have featured aircraft carriers, destroyers, frigates and other vessels to strengthen cooperation between participating countries.
