1. Major rescue exercise underway
The Civil Protection Department has launched a major training exercise to test its personal,
resources and command and control in various scenarios.
The exercise, called Novex, will be held all day today and will feature serious incidents all over
Malta, involving hundreds of rescuers and other personnel from the department, the police, the
AFM and voluntary organisations as well as ‘casualties’.
The picture above, taken at Kalkara, features a traffic accident where a bus flips over after a
collision. Rescuers have to deal with a large number of casualties, some of which will be treated
in a field hospital while others will be evacuated by helicopter.
