1. Gonzi does not name Brazilian company
Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi this morning again refrained from naming the Brazilian company
which is in the middle of a political storm following Friday’s debate with Joseph Muscat.
Dr Gonzi said it was a construction services company and not an aviation company as some
people thought during the Xarabank debate.
Speaking this morning during a tour of Farsons, Dr Gonzi said the company opened an office in
Sliema after it had indicated its intention to do so at the height of the Libya crisis.
But the Prime Minister stopped short of naming it. He did not say how many people were
employed. He, however, urged the media to act cautiously and refrain from turning this Brazilian
investment into a political football.
The controversy erupted on Friday when Dr Muscat asked what had happened to the Brazilian
investment the Prime Minister had announced earlier in the year.
Dr Gonzi had replied that the company had started operating in Malta and was employing
people.
