Maire Tecnimont Group, through its main contractor Tecnimont, was awarded the gold winner in the mega-sized project category of the 2014 IPMA International Project Management Award for the Habshan 5 Gas Treatment Plant in the United Arab Emirates. The Habshan 5 project underwent a critical assessment process and achieved the highest status of gold winner for demonstrating excellent project management standards. The project was completed successfully and on time while maintaining high standards for safety and quality.

Qatargas debottlenecking project
Qatargas is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum, Total, ExxonMobil, Marubeni and Mitsui.
The Qatargas vision is to become the world’s leading supplier of LNG and condensate.
The Qatargas LNG Plant was originally designed to produce 6 million tonnes per annum (Mt/a) for delivery to Japan. The
Plant capacity was increased in 2001 to 7 Mt/a through operations performance optimisation.
Production could not be increased further due to the environmental limitations on sulphur emissions in accordance with
the Contractual Obligations. The Sulphur Recovery Expansion project (SRX) was implemented in 2002 to overcome this
limitation.
The successful start up of this project resulted in a drastic reduction of sulphur emissions to below legal environmental
requirements and an LNG production increase of 10% (7.7 Mt/a).
To further increase the actual production capacity to 9.5 Mt/a, Qatargas is implementing the Debottlenecking Project
(DBN), which involves various modifications in the Offshore Platform and Onshore Plant over a three-year period, up to
2005. Implementation occurs while the plant is online and during planned major overhauls.
The SRX and DBN were two complex projects to execute in a live plant. Incident and Injury Free (IIF) was the key
objective for Qatargas.

Ambra Reind Waste to Energy
AMBRA REIND provides a solution for plastic waste by converting it to energy using a thermo-catalytic process. Plastic waste and other materials like scrap tires and e-waste are fed into a system that produces bunker fuel, gas, and electricity. A 1,000 kg/h unit can produce over 4 MWh of electricity annually from 8,000 tons of input waste. The process uses proven technology and is a closed loop system with no negative emissions. AMBRA REIND and its partners have over 20 years of experience in waste management technologies and converting waste to energy.

MAIRE TECNIMONT GROUP AWARDED THE IPMA INTERNATIONAL PROJECT EXCELLENCE AWARD 2014 FOR HABSHAN 5 GAS TREATMENT PLANT On 30th September in Rotterdam, Maire Tecnimont Group - through its main contractorTecnimont - was awarded the “GOLD WINNER” in Mega- Sized project category of the IPMA International Project Management Award for the Habshan 5 Gas Treatment Plant. The IPMA International Project Excellence Award is annually bestowed upon the most successful project teams in the world. The award diligently recognizes excellent project management methods practiced across international projects. The Award was presented for the first time at the IPMA World Congress in Berlin in 2002. Our project is one of the best examples of the Group’s excellent project execution skills. The Habshan 5 Gas Treatment has been implemented over a 4 sq.km area about 150 Km west of Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and it encompasses Acid Gas Treatment units with the biggest Sulphur Recovery Units in the World. Habshan 5 project has undergone critical assessment process according to the IPMA Model for Project Excellence achieving the highest status of “GOLD WINNER” in Mega-Sized project category. The coveted award signifies the excellent Project Management Standards followed by Maire Tecnimont Group companies across global projects of all sizes and complexities. The Project, executed by a Tecnimont-JGC 50/50 joint venture, was completed successfully and on time meeting the highest Safety and Quality standard. This mega-plant has seen more than thirty thousand people at work, representing 35 different nationalities. Moreover, the project achieved a worldwide milestone of accumulating 100 million safe man hours without a Lost Time Incident, an unprecedented record in our industry. Congratulations once again to the Project Team for this outstanding achievement!
