Magnetic Storage Devices
MADE BY GABRIEL CHETCUTI, RYAN SCERRI AND JEREMY CALAFATOTO
FORM 4 SCHEME 1
Magnetic Tape
 This is the oldest of the four devices.
 Magnetic tape is very thin and it is wrapped onto a reel.
 Data is stored on this deice due to ‘1’ and ‘0’.
 Data is read from a sequence.
Magnetic Tape
advantages
 Can be used when there is a large amount
of data which needs to be stored.
 Used for backup of computer networks.
 It is not very expensive.
disadvantages
 It is very slow.
 needs another tape to update data.
Floppy Disk
 It is the old method of storing data.
 Information was kept on a thin plastic disk.
 Data is read on a floppy disk drive.
 Data is read using direct data access.
Floppy Disk
Advantages
 Have a low cost.
 Can be write protected easily.
 there are small light and easy to carry.
Disadvantages
 Very low storage capacity.
 Floppy disk are very delicate.
 show data transfer rate.
