Once upon a time there was a boy walking home from work. He was a poor boy that lived at home with his parents in a one room hut.His name was Billy. On the way home, something shiny and sparkly caught his eye from the street drain. As Billy approached the drain, he stooped down to pick up the sparkly object.
What he found was a silvery, white solid. Billy put the object into his pocket and headed toward home. Once he got home, he showed his parents what he had found. His parents told him that it may be worth alot of money, and that he needed to find out how much its worth and what it is. The next day after work Billy stopped by an old wise mans hut to see how much it was worth and to find out what it was.The old wise man told Billy that what he had found was very rare and that it would bring good luck and fortune to him and his family. He told Billy that what he had found was Magnesium. He told
Billy that if he goes and finds all the information he can on magnesium that it will be lucky for him.Billy then thanked the old man and went on home. Once at home Billy told his parents what he had found and what the wise man told him to do. Billys' parents advised him to do as the wise man said and do some research on the magnesium object he had found. So the next day on his way home from work, Billy stopped by the library to do some research. He got the book that was all
about magnesium.Billy began writing down all the facts he could about magnesium. He wrote that its atomic number was 12, its atomic mass is 24,and that its symbol is Mg.He stated that it was a solid at room temperature. It is a alkaline earth metal and is the ninth most abundant element in the universe by mass.Billy stated that magnesium was easily built up in supernova stars from a sequential addition of three helium nuclei to carbon.Magnesium makes up 2% of Earth's crust by mass.Magnesium is not found naturally on the Earth.
He showed a diagram of the nucleus.Billy said that there were 12 protons, neutrons, and elctrons in the nucleus.Discovered in 1808 by Sir Humphry Davy.Humans need 250 mg a day of magnesium. Two compounds are magnesium acetate and magnesium oxide. After Billy found all of this information, he went back to the wise man and told him that he had done as he was told so what should he do next. The wise man looked at Billy and said now that you know everything about magnesium,
you should use it to your advantage and make new things with your discovery. So with Billy's knowledge he began to create and invent everyday items.Billy soon invented airplanes, missiles, and rockets out of magnesium.Later he also invented cameras, horseshoes, and baseball catchers' mask. With the invention of all these things, Billy was no longer poor, infact he was the richest man alive. He continued living his life inventing stuff with this light weight metal including the pencil sharpener. Billy and his parents moved into a nice big house and began to care and donate to all the poor familys
like they once were.Billy died as a well remembered person years later after all of his inventions.People remember him to this day from this great story of his.
