While the contents page met more criteria by using columns and advertisements, it did not maintain the color scheme of the front cover, negatively impacting brand recognition. Overall, the project demonstrated understanding of magazine design principles but left room for improvement in visual elements.

The audience feedback helped improve the film products. Feedback was gathered through interviews and a screening. Suggestions included using a lighter magazine cover image, longer trailer clips, and more diegetic sound. While most feedback was positive, getting responses from a more diverse age and gender range could have provided more useful criticism. Overall, audience input validated some design choices and pointed to additional changes.
Evaluation – Question 2

They relied heavily on search engines like Google to research horror and zombie movie conventions by finding trailers on YouTube and Wikipedia articles. PowerPoint was used to analyze real media texts and presentations were uploaded to blogs using SlideShare. Photoshop and Premiere Pro were used for image and video editing. Photoshop was used to design a movie poster and magazine cover while Premiere Pro was used to edit footage and add effects to create a film trailer. Research was also conducted by viewing actual magazine covers online.
Magazine research real

Magazine production
- 2. The software I will be using in the construction of my movie magazine will be Adobe Photoshop CS3. Photoshop is a photo editing program that will allow me to edit various features including the contrast and brightness. It also allows me to add a wide range of effects such as a lens glare or grayscale.

- 6. •Barcode, website, Issue date and price all feature at the head of the page. Website allows for intertextuality and more content online, a convention seen in my research. •Bold masthead above background image; magazine is not as popular or as widespread as Empire or Total Film. This is reflected in my decision to focus the magazine on the UK solely. •Headings used to detail content. ‘+’ plus sign included as both a design feature and show additional content. •Listing of content inside magazine. Term ‘starring’ from lexical field of film. •Exclamatory ‘World Exclusive’. Capital size letters draw attention as does the exclamation. Suggests readers will be the first to experience the content and this is the only magazine to receive it. •Bold font displays name of film. Bezel and Emboss effect used on majority of text on page to make it bold, glossy and pronounced. Similarly to the Total Film example, I have used separate font colour for the end of the film title. The red is striking and is a contrast whilst also meshing with the overall alternating red and white colour scheme. •Addition of film strip relates to the context of a film magazine and also allowed me to add my screenshots inside, therefore adding more than one image to the front cover. •Banner along foot of cover details additional content without much detail.
