Hua Mulan was born in 1368 BC in Henan, China and was trained from a young age in martial arts, sword fighting, and archery by her father. When men came to take her sick father to war, Mulan disguised herself as a man to take his place, as women were not allowed to serve. She fought bravely in the army for 13 years and her greatest achievement was capturing the enemy leader Leopard Skin. Although she felt guilty for hiding her true identity, Mulan was honored for her service. After the war, she returned home and continued her hobby of weaving, establishing herself as the first recorded female warrior in history.
