Paul proposed a second missionary journey to Barnabas to revisit cities where they had previously preached. However, Barnabas wanted to take John Mark again, while Paul did not trust him after he abandoned them previously. This caused Barnabas and Paul to separate, with Barnabas taking John Mark to Cyprus while Paul chose Silas and traveled overland. Paul and Silas preached in Philippi and Lydia became the first convert in Europe. They were later imprisoned but an earthquake led to their release and the conversion of the jailer and his household. Paul continued preaching throughout Macedonia and Achaia, facing opposition in some areas, before eventually reaching Athens and Corinth where he established churches.

Breaking through Philippian frontiers
1) Paul and Silas traveled through various towns and regions, preaching the gospel. In one town, Paul wanted Timothy, a young disciple, to join them. Timothy was circumcised to appease local Jews.
2) They continued preaching and strengthening churches. The Holy Spirit prevented them from preaching in some areas, so they went to Troas where Paul had a vision of a man asking for help in Macedonia.
3) In Philippi, Lydia became the first convert in Macedonia after Paul preached near a river. Paul then exorcised a fortune-telling slave girl's demon, angering her masters who had Paul and Silas beaten and imprisoned.

Paul and Silas traveled through towns in Macedonia preaching in the Jewish synagogues. In Thessalonica, Paul reasoned from scripture for three Sabbaths that Jesus was the promised Messiah who suffered and rose from the dead. Some Jews and Greeks believed, but jealous Jews started a riot. The believers sent Paul and Silas away secretly to Berea for their safety, where they continued preaching in the synagogue.

Aquila and Priscilla were a married couple who worked together in ministry, providing support to Paul and others. They demonstrated the importance of having a support system in Christian work. Specifically:
- They supported Paul when he came to Corinth by letting him stay with them and work alongside them.
- They traveled with Paul to Ephesus and helped Apollos further in his understanding of Christianity after overhearing him preach.
- Churches often met in their home and they were well-respected ministers mentioned in several letters.

A Church Planters Wish List
This presentation was given to Dr. Sammy Cambell's "Challenges in Local Missions" class at Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, AL. I was asked to share ways that partner churches can help church plants.
Church Planting in the Province of Asia
Paul arrives in Ephesus and finds some disciples who have only received John's baptism. They did not know about the Holy Spirit. Paul baptizes them in the name of Jesus and lays hands on them, and they receive the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues and prophesying. Paul preaches boldly in the synagogue for three months but some reject his message. He then teaches daily in the hall of Tyrannus for two years, and the word of the Lord spreads throughout Asia.

They had a meeting with members of the committee where they had the opportunity to express their opinions, views and recommendations in regards with the children's rights in Macedonia. They were happy and satisfied from the meeting with the members of the Committee and the fact that they were given the opportunity to voice their opinion on the state of their rights in the Republic of Macedonia

Macedonia
The Republic of Macedonia is a country in Southeast Europe located in the Balkan peninsula. It declared independence in 1991 after the breakup of Yugoslavia and its capital and largest city is Skopje. The majority of Macedonians speak Macedonian, a South Slavic language, as their first language. The national flag depicts a yellow sun on a red field and the majority of Macedonians belong to the Macedonian Orthodox Church. 2) Paul then cast a demon out of a slave girl who had been used to tell fortunes. Her owners were angry about losing income and had Paul and Silas arrested.
3) In prison, an earthquake occurred and the jailer was ready to kill himself, but Paul stopped him and shared the gospel. The jailer and his household believed and were baptized.
4th year Upper Room Message
Paul and Silas preach in Philippi where Lydia and her household are baptized. A slave girl with a spirit of divination follows them but Paul casts out the spirit. The slave girl's owners have Paul and Silas arrested for disturbing their business. They are beaten and imprisoned. That night an earthquake opens the prison doors but the jailer is about to kill himself, thinking the prisoners have escaped, when Paul stops him. The jailer and his household are baptized after Paul and Silas tell him about salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
Rocking the jailhouse
1) Paul and Silas were imprisoned after Paul cast a demon out of a slave girl who was fortune telling. They spent the night in prison praying and singing hymns.
2) Suddenly, an earthquake opened the prison doors and unchained all the prisoners. The jailer thought the prisoners had escaped and was about to kill himself but Paul stopped him.
3) The jailer and his household came to faith in Jesus after Paul and Silas shared the gospel with them. They were released from prison after appealing to their rights as Romans.

Philippi introduction
Paul and his companions traveled from Troas to Philippi, a major city in Macedonia and Roman colony. There, Paul converted Lydia and her household to Christianity. Paul also cast a spirit of divination out of a slave girl, angering her owners who had profited from her fortunetelling. As a result, Paul and Silas were beaten and imprisoned. That night in prison, an earthquake occurred and their bonds were loosed. The jailer and his household were then converted after Paul and Silas told him the way of salvation. Paul would later write a letter to the Philippians church from prison, encouraging them in their faith.

The high priests arrested the apostles for teaching about Jesus but an angel freed them. When brought before the high priests again, the apostles preached boldly about obeying God rather than men. A Jewish leader convinced the high priests to just flog the apostles and let them go. The apostles left rejoicing that they passed the test and continued preaching the gospel daily.

Does the Bible really teach that Christians today should be handling snakes as an expression of their faith in Jesus? This presentation will examine the practice of snake handling today with the teaching of scripture.
Be assured that the Bible does indeed that there were some (the apostles) who would handle serpents, even be bitten by them (ex. Paul, the apostle) and they would NOT be hurt. The fact that modern serpent handlers are often bitten and sometimes die from their bites should be a clear indication of something. Think about it.
Does your faith work?

To have a real faith that leads to salvation, one must obtain it through hearing the word of God.
