Physical Characteristics 1. Macedonia contains 2 different mountain ranges within the boarders, the Dinaric range and the Rhodope range. 2. There are 1,100 sources of water. The largest river is the Vadar. There are many smaller rivers and streams along with 3 lakes and 50 ponds. 3. It is landlocked with a large river valley through the center of the country, created by the Vadar river.
 
Customs & traditions of Macedonia   Most of the Macedonian traditions come from Yugoslavia. Most marriages are arranged by parents, and are within their own religion. Probably the most popular tradition is baking a coin in a cake on new years eve. Another weird tradition is serving Blaga Rakia to the grooms parents the morning after the wedding. They only have the fruit brandy if the bride is a virgin.
 
Cultural Characteristics Macedonia has two official languages. They are Macedonian and Albanian. Those are also the major make up of ethnic groups. The two major religions practiced there are Macedonian Orthodox (62%) and Muslim (26%). Macedonian Orthodox is in full union with the Roman Catholic church and uses Macedonian in its liturgy.
