Medieval art consisted of Christian mosaics and stained glass windows depicting Jesus and other religious figures found in churches. Byzantine art, which was conservative for religious and cultural reasons, was also popular during the Middle Ages and the Byzantine Empire produced high quality religious art and artwork.
