Why?
Sharing work effectively among people is the way in which things
get done efficiency.
How?
A practical exercise involving string, sticky tape, cardboard tubes and
marbles test the participants level of comfort with stretch
assignments in a competitive team challenge.We explore Guiding and
Directing behaviours to enhance output and apply it during 3 rounds
of the Marbles Challenge. Fun and exciting but also serious when
reconsidering task assignments at work and how it is being supported
through Guiding or Directing behaviours.

performance through delegation during this 2 hour demonstration of
the Can Do - Will Do model to effectively manage Stretch in teams.

1. Make a list of the people involved with a key deliverable at work.
2. Consider what you ask them to do and plot them on the Can do Will do chart.
3. Choose one person on the grid to stretch to a higher level of performance.
4. Create an opportunity to ask your candidate what proportion of guiding vs. directing behaviour
they receive from you currently and how stretched they feel in their role.
5. Arrange a call with a colleague from the session to discuss your guiding vs. directing approach.
