2. Watch en extract of editing to the beat in our music video here We also used a ‘lyric match’ shot here which again shows how we have followed certain conventions of music video. Editingclips to the beat
6. This is an example of the sunny lighting used in the video to create positive connotations This lighting of the character in school juxtaposes the sunlight and colour in the other part of the narrative. Contrast is often used in music video’s and thus we have stuck to this convention. The gig lighting was a mix of colours such as red white blue and green which went with the positive atmosphere that we wished to create. Lighting also looked professional due to us actually recording at The Skints official gig Lighting and colours
7. We wore fairly dark or neutral colours as we felt like this depicted the casual type of clothes that would be worn by a demographic who aren’t very concerned with materialistic things or are just happy with who they are. These clothes Aren’t too dressy and so show the characters to be laid back and relaxed. Bradley is wearing a dull grey suit. The grey connotes the dull mundanity of his day or all of the unfortunate events that occur within his day. He is dressed smartly for school, but this also suggests that he is a good student as he makes an effort. CLICK TO PLAY after automatic speaking has finished Costume

9. The cigarettes and sheesha is our way of alluding to where ska music originated from (i.e. reggae) as the symbol often associated with this genre of music is the marijuana leaf. Music video’s often make allusions and the ska music video’s we watched featured mise en scene so we have stuck to conventions with our music video.
10. We used a sheesha pipe, cigarettes and condoms to make a statement about many teenagers today and highlight the sort of demographics that listen to the skints alternative music i.e. people who are laid back, don’t take life too seriously and just want to enjoy themselves and experiment.Mise en scene
11. Overall I think our group have stuck to many conventions of music video on the whole, especially so the ska genre. We have paid homage to sonic boom six in terms of storyline and mixing the gig with the narrative. I don’t believe we have created a parody as we have not intended to poke fun at this genre. However, there is one close up shot of the school characters reaction (when his teacher tears up his paper) which could be seen to be parodying the ska music vid. genre as the facial expression seems quite comical. I don’t particularly think this shot worked very well as it could seem to undermine the naturalistic plot that we had aimed to create. I would definitely change this feature, were we to re-do the whole process. I think we have developed this genre of music video by being slightly more creative with editing and creating a video that is more fun to watch than the other ska video’s we have analysed.

13. We tried to avoid showing the characters in the narrative doing any activities that are expensive. E.g. they play in a playground, walk around camden, smoke cheap roll up cigarette’s and don’t appear to spend a lot of money.
27. Also at the end – more shots of people than the band (i.e. characters)------------------------------------------------------------------------ We tried to fix all of the imperfections. For example we cut down the slow shots of the characters walking. We also made sure our syncing of the footage to the song was more efficient and we often slowed down the footage/sped it up to do this which also created more effects of the band performance. All of this feedback allowed us to improve our music video and make it a lot more professional looking.
