Jeremy Corner, owner of Blue Eyed Sun and Ivy Ellen, gave a presentation about how he doubled his income and halved his working week. He began by defining a clear goal of spending only 50% of his time on his business while maintaining the same income within 12 months. He then identified the main obstacles in achieving this goal, including systems, self-discipline, staff motivation, outside activities, sales, key customers, brand identity, new products, outsourcing jobs, and guilt about not working. He assessed each obstacle and rated his performance at overcoming them from best to worst using a scale, which helped identify the areas that needed most improvement to achieve his defined goal.

Employee Job Satisfaction - What We Really Want In Order to Achieve Happiness...Martin Schweiger
Have you ever thought about what creates happiness in your job?
Tip: it is not money, for most people, what creates happiness. My theory is that this is because the item “money” is not part of our childhood desires.
What is part of our childhood desires is: that we do something meaningful.
But what is “meaningful”? Something that is meaningful for you may be different from what is meaningful for someone else. And something that was meaningful for you yesterday may no longer be meaningful for you tomorrow.
My talk will give you insights into how you can find out when you work like a clockwork, and when you should rather look for a different job
Tip: you should take up a new job if you already know that you will need ongoing and close management and help in order to perform well. That criteria does not only work for yourself but also for your peers, and for the people that you may be responsible for in the future.
These are the main pitfalls for enpreneurs:
-not re-investing enough for market response and market validation
-not re-investing enough for selling
-not re-investing enough for experimentation and product breakthrough development
-Not hiring quality people. There's an adage that goes hire the best and cry only once, as opposed to hiring the worst and keep losing them because they either do stupid things or they don't show up or you fire them
-You don't want to be the smartest person in a room. You want to be the dumbest, because you want to learn from everybody. So you want to hire people better than you
The Key Ingredient to Building a World Class Startup: Startup DNA, And How to...e27
Early stage startups, by nature, are fast, nimble, and agile. But as you scale up your business and build your company, how do you keep this DNA? How do you avoid bureaucracy and red tape creeping in and slowing you down? Building and nurturing your culture is crucial and companies like Airbnb and Amazon have done this successfully. This session explores the key aspects of innovation and agility for startups at scale, zooming into the culture, organization, and mechanisms that have allowed Amazon to keep leveraging its startup DNA to innovate across multiple industries.

As a leader, you’ve likely faced the stress of ever-expanding goals and targets. Every year brings new opportunities to set the bar higher and higher. This leaves some leaders in a constant cycle of asking themselves:
- Why are my profits down?
- Why are we missing deadlines/quality standards?
- Why is morale down and/or turnover high?
- Why can’t I find good people?
- When will I get my life back?
However, these questions fail to address the heart of the problem. Often, the problem starts with company culture. The organization isn’t set up to learn and adapt quickly, and knowledge about new learnings isn’t easily shared company-wide.

"Scaling your business: Insights from inside"
Alexander will share his view on scaling the company, so that operations stay manageable during rapid growth of sales. Critical thresholds of 20, 50, and 100 people are conceptually similar in nature, but require different focus of management. Alexander will review four areas that need attention during these critical periods, and will specifically cover the underlying emotional challenges.
The proposed approach works for owners and top management of small companies, but also for line managers of departments and divisions of same size.
Tips addressing most important aspects of scaling your IT business: your mindset; company processes and structure;culture and people; and delegation. Essential do's and dont's with practical examples.

Innovation is one of the latest buzz words, but what does innovation really mean and how does it impact the way you do business and serve your clients? Often times, business leaders think innovation refers solely to technology, when in fact cloud and mobility are shifting away from being a new idea to being mainstream and an expectation, leaving clients wanting more. What does “being innovative” in your accounting firm mean to your business model, the way you interact with your clients, and how you plan for the future? Jennifer Warawa, Vice President and General Manager of Sage Accountant Solutions at Sage North America, and Tom Hood, CEO of Maryland Association of CPAs and the Business Learning Institute, will share research, trends, and insights into how the next phase of innovation will have an impact on the way you do business, and what changes are crucial in order to stay one step ahead of the competition.

Cracking the Workplace Discipline Code Main.pptxWorkforce Group
Cultivating and maintaining discipline within teams is a critical differentiator for successful organisations.
Forward-thinking leaders and business managers understand the impact that discipline has on organisational success. A disciplined workforce operates with clarity, focus, and a shared understanding of expectations, ultimately driving better results, optimising productivity, and facilitating seamless collaboration.
Although discipline is not a one-size-fits-all approach, it can help create a work environment that encourages personal growth and accountability rather than solely relying on punitive measures.
In this deck, you will learn the significance of workplace discipline for organisational success. You’ll also learn
• Four (4) workplace discipline methods you should consider
• The best and most practical approach to implementing workplace discipline.
• Three (3) key tips to maintain a disciplined workplace.
Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).

Making it Happen
#SageSummit | @JeremyCorner owner of @Blue_Eyed_Sun & @IvyEllen
ACTIONS
• SELF
– Jo takes off Fridays from 12 noon
– Jeremy takes off Thursdays from 12 noon
– Both with immediate effect
• SYSTEMS
– Wednesday afternoons Jeremy and Jo to meet 2-4pm (undisturbed) to
define job functions.
– Every two weeks after that to meet and finalise a job function
– Job functions to all be clearly defined and in place by end of June
• On-going
– Try to manage time better by getting more ‘undisturbed time’ regularly
during the day to complete important tasks
