                           • The website – how does it reflect the house style of LOOK
                           • What content is available on the website, what content is unique to the website
                           • Discussion boards/Forums
                           • Social networking – Facebook, Twitter
                           • Global reach – are there international websites for LOOK
                           • Phone apps, iPad version.
Things to consider...

The central argument here is whether or not Look magazine and its website have a symbiotic
relationship or whether one is more important than the other. There is a lot more content available to
the online user and a variety of AV material, competitions and links to fashion websites. It would seem
that the website has much more to offer than the mag – but then would the site have any success
without the brand name of a successful magazine behind it?

There’s also the fact that people still like holding and using traditional magazines – however some
magazines are embracing digital technologies in more innovative ways – Grazia is a good case study of a
mag which is truly adapting its product for the iphone generation – and it’s comparable to Look.

The uses & gratifications model is a really useful way of analysing the online presence of the magazine –
particularly when you factor in the use of social networking sites such Facebook & Twitter to make
connections with an audience – you should be able to discuss and describe a users experience of Look’s
online presence.
