LSC BASEBALL
Texas A&M‐Kingsville leads the standings at 15‐3 overall as Lone Star Conference baseball teams play series that will not
count in the league standings this week.
LSC teams are playing a 10‐week schedule with a four‐game series against every other team during weeks 8‐14
determining the LSC Champion. Conference series scheduled weeks 5‐7 will not count toward the league standings.
Each four‐game series shall consist of a 9‐inning game Friday, a 7x7 doubleheader Saturday and 9‐inning contest Sunday.
The overall LSC Champion will be the team(s) with the best winning percentage in regular‐season conference games,
while the winner of the postseason championship will be recognized as LSC Tournament Champion and receive the
league’s automatic qualification into NCAA postseason. This season, the top six teams play a single‐elimination
championship on May 10‐11‐12, at the No. 1 seed.
LSC baseball teams are 81‐55 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the teams are currently 10‐13
combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 16‐4 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Francisco Rodriguez, Tarleton State University, SR, OF, Punta de Mata, Venezuela, Nuestra Santa Patrona HS
Rodriguez had arguably the best weekend by a Texan in program history as the senior from Venezuela hit .643 and broke
or tied three single‐game records while leading Tarleton to three wins over Cameron in Stephenville last weekend.
Rodriguez started the weekend with a 5‐for‐5 performance, including three home runs in his first three at bats of the
series Friday afternoon. In that game, Rodriguez tied the school record for hits (5) and home runs (3) in a single game
and set a new program standard for total bases (16). He tied the Lone Star Conference mark for homers in a game held
by several players as well. Rodriguez also boasted the second‐most RBI in a single game (9). He followed up with at least
one RBI in each game the rest of the series. For the weekend, Rodriguez hit .643 with nine hits, six runs scored, and 12
RBI while slugging 1.500. He earned five free bases on three walks and two hit by pitches to go along with two sacrifice
flies and four stolen bases. In addition to his work at the plate, Rodriguez worked a flawless centerfield with a 1.000
fielding percentage on five putouts and one assist.
PITCHER
Joshua Valdez, Texas A&M University‐Kingsville, JR, RHP, Kyle, Texas, Lehman HS
Valdez came in relief during game one of the series versus No. 5 West Texas A&M and took home his first win of the
year...Scattered five hits over five innings of work with six strikeouts and no runs in the 9‐4 triumph.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Garlind Webster, Eastern New Mexico University, batted .615 with a 1.385 slugging percentage last weekend, as
ENMU swept a four‐game road trip. He hit safely in all four games with homers in three out of the four. Webster drove
in five runs in the second game against Dallas Christian on Saturday.
Alex Salcido, Angelo State University, led the Rams with 13 total bases in a four‐game sweep of UTPB, batting well
over .500 and driving the ball into the gaps with three doubles and a triple. The catcher contributed to 11 runs all by
himself on the weekend, driving in seven and scoring four times. In Saturday's doubleheader, he reached base eight of
the nine times he came to the plate, collecting six hits and scoring four times on that day alone.
Austin Ingraham, Texas A&M University‐Kingsville, hit three home runs in a 3‐1 series win over No. 5 West Texas
A&M...Went 2‐for‐4 with two RBI and a pair of leadoff solo shots in a 9‐4 win in game one...followed up with a two‐run
home run in a 5‐4 win in game three...Added two stolen bases...Was perfect from the field in 14 chances.
Cesar Capellan, Eastern New Mexico University, tossed a complete game against Dallas Christian and fanned 10
batters. His strong performance allowed ENMU to pick up a 5‐2 win.
Colby Fowler, Tarleton State University, put together his best performance of the season on Sunday to lead the
Texans to a series win over Cameron. The senior from Brock threw 5.1 innings and boasted a 0.00 ERA after allowing
only two unearned runs while striking out five. Fowler earned his first win of the season Sunday.
Tyler Lesley, Angelo State University, averaged a strikeout an inning as he shut down the Falcons in a 13‐0 ASU win
Friday night. The San Antonio native earned his fifth win in the process, allowing just four hits and an opponents' batting
average of .235. He also picked off another baserunner, giving him four on the season.

Eastern New Mexico
The Greyhounds registered a strong weekend, sweeping doubleheaders from Calumet College of St. Joseph's and Dallas
Christian. With a batting average of .425, ENMU displayed power with 11 homeruns and speed with 36 stolen bases in
37 attempts. Garlind Webster paced the Hounds with three homers and 10 runs batted in. Eastern also had a 3.21
earned run average over the four games and was paced by Cesar Capellan's 10 strikeouts. This weekend, Eastern will
visit UT Permian Basin.
Tarleton State
Tarleton took three of four in Stephenville against Cameron. The Texans will play three games against Hardin‐Simmons
this weekend.

3‐1 last week.
UT Permian Basin
UT Permian baseball went 0‐4 this week against Angelo State. Mike Fernandez led the UTPB offense going 5‐12 with a
double, home run and seven RBI. Alex Wixson also went 5‐12 at the plate with a pair of doubles. Dalton Drury went 4‐
12 with a lead‐off home run.
West Texas A&M
The No. 5/14 Buffs struggled at No. 19 Texas A&M‐Kingsville this week, going 1‐3 for the first series loss of the
season...WT hit just .243 for the series on 33 of 136, scoring 20 runs, 10 doubles, one triple and 18 RBI...The team
slugged .331 and reached base at a .333 clip, while walking 15 times with five hit batsmen and 25 strikeouts...The Buffs
had five errors leading to three unearned runs...On the mound, the Buffs also struggled, allowing TAMUK to hit .343 on
46 of 134, allowing 31 runs, three doubles, one triple and four home runs, while driving in 27...TAMUK slugged .470 and
reached base at a .426, while going 7 of 8 in stolen bases...WT had a 7.64 ERA for the weekend in 33 innings, allowing 46
hits, 31 runs ‐ 28 earned, walked 13 and fanned 26...Junior Dominic Yearego earned the lone win in 4.2 innings of relief,
allowing four hits, one earned run, walked one and fanned seven...WT returns home to host Angelo State this coming
weekend at Wilder Park, beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.
