The Green Race is On is the title of the WBCSD's Annual Review 2009 ( 28.8 MB) . It is only in the past five years that thoughtful companies have begun to understand the vast opportunities of moving toward a sustainable world, and that science has made clear the global catastrophes inherent in un-sustainable development.
This Annual Review celebrates both the 15 year anniversary of the WBCSD and how member companies are engaging with sustainable development. In it we cover the pertinent issues challenging us, including:
Energy, climate, development and urbanization and the link between them
The re-invention of “green jobs”
Smarter grids, new investments in energy supply and distribution
Sustainable consumption, with consumers beginning to look at individual purchasing patterns and their impacts on the planet
Global and local water challenges
Advanced green energy technologies
Business opportunities associated with the sustainable management and stewardship of ecosystems and the creation of market mechanisms for ecosystem services.

Measuring the Blended Value of Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Ent...Karim Harji
Presentation to the Canadian Evaluation Society Annual Conference, Ottawa, June 2, 2009
Innovative evaluation methods and tools are emerging in the fields of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social enterprise. The focus of these innovations is the measurement of the “blended value” (financial, social and environmental) that is created by CSR and social enterprise, which is of interest to social investors, “philanthrocapitalists” and governments.
This panel will summarize findings-in-process from ongoing applications in these spheres in Ontario, Ghana and other developing-world settings. There are advantages and challenges in applying “blended value” approaches that the presenters will examine. The panelists will also discuss the implications of these findings for the theory and practice of evaluation.

As a part of the Institute's strategic focus on assisting CCS projects through knowledge sharing, three North American roadshow events will help the industry share project experiences and knowledge about CCS. Taking place in the US and Canada, the three events include:
• Austin, Texas on November 8, 2011;
• Calgary, Canada on 10 November, 2011; and
• Washington, D.C. on 19 January, 2012.
The first roadshow focused on sharing project experiences and knowledge from the projects in North America but also brought in projects from Europe (Don valley) and Australia (Callide) so that regionally diverse experiences could be shared amongst a global audience.
Attendance at the event was around 30 to 35 which allowed open and frank discussions around technical, management, and regulatory issues and how these challenges can impact on a project’s advancement and decision making processes.
