L’Hermione,
an historic
reconstruction
In 1780, the Marquis of Lafayette
embarked on the Hermione
frigate to join the American
insurgents in their struggle for
independence.
The faithful replica of the
Hermione departed from the
Charente - Maritime coasts
heading to the United-States on
April, 18th
2015, as Lafayette did.
A 5-months adventure across the
Atlantic and along the US coasts,
with 13 ports of call, including
the eagerly-awaited stop in
New-York, from July 1st
to 4th
, for
the national Independence Day.
The Poitou-Charentes region
together with the Hermione-La
Fayette Association, builder and
owner of the Hermione ship,
is proud to highlight the skills,
talents and assets of this region,
presented as “Lafayette’s
Hermione country” during the
stops of the Hermione.

the Region and the ARIA (Regional Association of
the Food Industries) get together to highlight and
promote the products of Poitou-Charentes not
only in the region but also in France and around
