This document contains Rotter's Locus of Control Scale, which is a 29-item questionnaire used to assess whether individuals perceive outcomes as being internally or externally controlled. Respondents select between two statements for each question that indicate either an internal or external locus of control. Questions relate to beliefs about control over one's life, politics, leadership, relationships, and luck. Scoring involves assigning 1 point for answers associated with an external locus of control and interpreting higher scores as indicating a general external locus of control belief where outcomes are seen as being influenced by forces outside of one's control.
