This document discusses how God freely forgives sins even before people ask for forgiveness. It shares a story of a father who had already forgiven his son in his heart for his drug problems, before the son asked. The document notes that in the stories of the adulterous woman and prodigal son in the Bible, Jesus and the father forgave them before they repented. It argues that God's forgiveness is what leads to repentance, not the other way around, and that only love can change a person's heart. People repent because they are loved by God. The document encourages accepting God's forgiveness and turning away from sin out of love for him.
Jesus introduces himself and wants to be called friend. He was born in a barn and later fled as a baby for safety, experiencing a normal human life so he could understand people. As both God's son and a friend, Jesus wants to enjoy good times with people and help during difficulties, being a reliable friend they can talk to for solutions. He promises to always be there as a friend so people can have a full life.
This document contains the sermon notes from Westside Community Church on September 27, 2015. The sermon focuses on times when God says "wait" and provides strategies for enduring the waiting period well such as talking with God, obeying His commands, avoiding what He prohibits, and enduring the waiting patiently. Examples are given of people who both waited well like David, Joseph, and Jesus, and those who waited poorly like Abraham and King Saul.
1) Jesus actively sought out students wherever they were, rather than waiting for them to come to him. This included meeting rebellious, disheartened, lost, despised, and advanced students.
2) With rebellious students like Adam and Eve, Jesus paid the ransom for their rebellion and corrected the flaws caused by their sin.
3) He encouraged disheartened students like Jacob and assured them of forgiveness.
4) Jesus came to save all lost people, including those not part of his classroom like the Canaanite woman.
5) More advanced students who studied the scriptures, like Bartimaeus, recognized Jesus more clearly while others were spiritually blind.
This is a study of Jesus as the man on the road. He spent so much of His life on the road going from one city to another and meeting needs of people. His on the road ministry leads to many great stories of the New Testament.
What next?! That is the question as we bring our Easter season to a close. For as we gather on this Feast of Pentecost our Scripture focuses on the “what next” in our call to discipleship. So what does that “what’s next?” look like for you? More importantly what doesn’t it look like?
Perhaps a bit of wisdom from a monkey, a fish, and a doorkeeper will shine new light on how to respond to the call to go forth and to be sent as the Father sent his Son…and it just may be easier than you think….

1. Jesus sees a man blind from birth and heals him by making mud, putting it on his eyes, and telling him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. The man comes back seeing.
2. Neighbors question if it is the same man, while others doubt. The Pharisees question the man about how his eyes were opened and on what day, as it was the Sabbath.
3. The Pharisees are divided on whether Jesus is from God. Jesus later finds the man and asks if he believes in the Son of Man, revealing himself as the one speaking to him.
John 9, Children And The Sins Of The Parents, Miracle 6, Man Born Blind Heale...Valley Bible Fellowship
John 9 is about Jesus healing a man born blind. When Jesus' disciples ask if the man's blindness was due to his own or his parents' sins, Jesus says neither caused it, but it was so God's works could be displayed. Jesus heals the man by making mud and having him wash in the Pool of Siloam. Though the man receives physical sight, he requires further revelation from Jesus to believe. The Jewish leaders question the healing, which causes division.
Jesus healed a man who was blind from birth by making mud and telling him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. This caused a debate between the Pharisees as to whether Jesus was a sinner for healing on the Sabbath. The man who was healed defended Jesus, saying he must be a prophet since he opened his eyes. When questioned further by the Pharisees, the man said he now believes in Jesus.
The document discusses how salvation through Jesus Christ can bring about real life change and a "new birth." It explains that while some experience an immediate transformation, for most it is a gradual process of learning and growing through trials as they follow Christ. True and lasting change only comes from accepting Jesus, who forgives sins and gives believers a new heart and character, enabling them to overcome sinful habits and live righteously. Salvation is a free gift of God's grace through faith in Christ alone.
Jesus tells a rich ruler that to inherit eternal life he must sell all his possessions and give the money to the poor. When the ruler becomes sorrowful because he is wealthy, Jesus says it is difficult for rich people to enter the kingdom of God, like trying to fit a camel through the eye of a needle. Those who hear this ask who can be saved, and Jesus responds that with God all things are possible.
This document provides a summary of Genesis 37, which tells the story of Joseph and his relationship with his brothers. It discusses how Joseph was favored by his father Jacob and given a robe of many colors, which made his brothers jealous. It describes Joseph's dreams that predicted his brothers would bow down to him, further angering them. When Jacob sends Joseph to check on his brothers, they conspire to kill him but ultimately throw him into a pit and later sell him into slavery. The document presents Joseph as a "type of Christ", highlighting parallels between Joseph's suffering at the hands of his brothers and Jesus' rejection by his own people.

This document contains summaries of passages from the Gospel of John describing Jesus healing a blind man. It describes Jesus making mud and putting it on the man's eyes, telling him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. The man then receives his sight. The Pharisees question the man and his parents, becoming divided on whether Jesus is a sinner or prophet. The man insists that though he was blind, now he sees, prioritizing his restoration over religious pride or rules.
Bob Steinkamp passed away on December 27, 2010. He was involved with Rejoice Marriage Ministries and helped the author, Kim, when she was going through a divorce before becoming a Christian. Bob provided counsel and encouragement to Kim through correspondence even though they never met in person. Kim admired Bob's boldness in proclaiming his Christian faith and standing up for biblical beliefs. He will be missed for his humor, wisdom and dedication to helping others through difficult times in their marriages and lives.
Jesus heals a man who was born blind. When Jesus' disciples ask if the man's blindness was due to his own or his parents' sins, Jesus says it was so God's power could be shown. Jesus heals the man by making mud with spit and rubbing it on his eyes, telling him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. When questioned about the healing, the man testifies boldly about Jesus and glorifies him. The Pharisees expel the man from the synagogue for his belief. Jesus finds the man and tells him he is the Son of Man, and the man believes.
God reflects on humanity's separation from Him due to sin throughout history. He discusses this with Jesus and expresses His heartbreak over being unable to be near His creations due to their corruption. Jesus reassures God that He will take on humanity's corruption and establish a way for people to be made right in God's sight through faith in Him, referencing a prophecy about a young woman named Mary. God agrees that Jesus showing humanity a different way of being justified is the solution to reunite them.
The document recounts the author falling from a ladder while doing yard work and sustaining serious injuries that required a hospital stay. Neighbors and friends provided extensive support during the recovery process, from taking him to the hospital to allowing him to recuperate at their home. The author expresses deep gratitude to God for watching over him during the accident and recovery, as well as to the many people who helped care for his physical and emotional needs during that difficult time. He acknowledges continuing health issues but is thankful to be alive and for what God taught him through the experience.
The document examines Jesus' claims to be the Messiah and God based on accounts from the Gospel of John during the last year of his life. It describes several events where Jesus performs miracles but the Jews reject him, demanding he state plainly if he is the Messiah. When Jesus says he and the Father are one, the Jews try to stone him for blasphemy. The document argues that either Jesus was telling the truth in his claims, or he was a liar or lunatic, based on the words and miracles attributed to him. It concludes by asking whether Jesus should be seen as the promised Messiah or a madman.
The document discusses three articles from a newsletter:
1) "We Shall Be Changed" discusses the resurrection and how believers will receive new, perfected bodies free from sickness and death.
2) "The Eyewitness" is a fictional first-person account of Malchus, the man whose ear was cut off during Jesus' arrest. It describes his role in Jesus' arrest and trial, and how Jesus healed and forgave him.
3) "Beyond the Hiccup" imagines an interview with God about the end times and what will happen after death. It promotes a message of hope and assurance in God's plans.
1) St. Mary of Egypt lived a sinful life as a prostitute for 17 years before having a spiritual awakening while visiting Jerusalem.
2) She heard a voice telling her to cross the Jordan River, where she lived alone in the wilderness for 47 years in extreme poverty and asceticism.
3) Each year on Holy Thursday, she met with a priest named Zosimus, who brought her communion and found her body after her death, surrounded by a lion who helped dig her grave.
Is heaven a real place? How can we know for certain? Why does John describe heaven in negative terms? Are there really pearly gates and streets of gold in heaven? Will heaven be boring?
Do those in heaven know what’s happening on earth? How do you know for certain you are going to heaven when you die? These and of questions are addressed in this study of Revelation 21:1-7.
This document summarizes a Sunday school class discussion about the end of the Christian story and Christ's return. It discusses Jesus' promises from John 14 that he is preparing a place for believers in heaven. The document then describes visions from Revelation of the new heaven, new earth, and New Jerusalem, featuring the tree of life. It encourages believers to live ready for Christ's return by washing their robes through faith and good works. The discussion emphasizes finding comfort in knowing heaven will be with Jesus and having eternal life free from suffering.
Sermon 2016 # 1 church slides the gospel and salvation the story of zacch...SSMC
This document provides a summary and analysis of the biblical story of Zacchaeus found in Luke 19:1-10. It describes how Jesus sought out Zacchaeus, a wealthy tax collector, and dined at his home, sparking Zacchaeus' repentance and restoration efforts. The document argues that salvation comes through God's sovereign work, not human effort alone, and must be evidenced by repentance and a changed life, not just words. It also distinguishes between a "gospel of salvation" focused just on the soul, and the "gospel of the kingdom" which impacts all of society.
The document discusses why people refuse to believe in Jesus and the essential components of the gospel message. It explains that people refuse to believe because their hearts are sinful and they love darkness rather than light. It then outlines the gospel as: 1) Humans are sinful and spiritually dead, deserving God's wrath. 2) Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross to pay for sins, and rose again. 3) To be saved, one must repent of sins and place faith in Jesus. The gospel brings forgiveness and restores a right relationship with God.
This document introduces Cross-Road Mobile Schools, which provides discipleship and leadership training for spirit-filled believers. The school aims to empower people to aspire higher in Christ by training intending missionaries, pastors, evangelists, prophets, and church leaders. The curriculum is designed to be "mobile" to reach various churches and people groups across Nigeria and neighboring countries. The school seeks to provide a balanced orientation based on biblical facts to equip believers for effective Christian living and ministry in this new millennium.

This document discusses teaching Christian asceticism and the meaning of suffering to children. It references how we are born in the shape of the cross and discusses laminins, which hold our cells together. Several adages are presented that discuss how pain and struggle can build strength and character, as long as one's goals are worth the costs. The document advocates having the fortitude to endure adversity with courage rather than unwarranted pity or false maxims. It references a Bible passage about taking up one's cross daily and following Jesus. Overall, the document is about how suffering can be used to help children become noble, as long as parents spare them suffering as atonement for their own mistakes.

Luke 24:1-6 esus' vindication involves the exercise of God's power bringing him to life in a new, glorified state. After the discovery of the empty tomb (vv. 1-12), Luke narrates the conversation with the Emmaus-bound disciples, an account unique to him (vv. 13-35). Then follows the Gospel's closing scene, where Jesus visits the disciples (vv. 36-53). This final visit also is unique to Luke. Here Jesus appears to them (vv. 36-43) before giving them final instructions and departing (vv. 44-53).
A key feature of this section is the note of surprise among the disciples that Jesus is raised
The document discusses the cross of Christ and its significance for salvation. It explains that through Christ's death on the cross, all of humanity died with Him as our representative, freeing us from the condemnation of sin and the power of sin. Believers must accept that they died with Christ on the cross in order to be made alive in Him and empowered to live holy lives. The cross is how God solved the problem of how an innocent person could die for the guilty, through Christ becoming our substitute and taking our place under the condemnation of sin.
The Roman Catholic Church
This denomination is a traditional group of Christians who believe in Natural Law: doing what God intended in a natural way. Up until the C16th Catholics were the dominant group of Christians in Europe. Catholics are controlled by the Pope in Rome
Protestant Churches
These are the Christian groups that developed after Martin Luther’s debate in 1517.
These are modern Christians who have re-interpreted the Bible and have a different view to the Roman Catholics.
These Christians are NOT controlled by the Pope.
Many people have wondered what God might be like. Christians believe that he has certain attributes that define him.
Adam and Eve were created by God and placed in the garden of Eden. They had everything they wanted. But one day a serpent appeared and asked Eve to get him some fruit. He asked for fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. This was the one tree whose fruit they couldn’t eat. Eve took the fruit and ate some herself. Seeing that nothing bad had happened she took the fruit to Adam to eat and he did. God knew of their disobedience and punished them for their actions. It is due to them that nature is out of balance with humanity and evil exists in the world. Had Adam and Eve obeyed God, evil would not exist
Lucifer was an angel in Heaven with God and all the other angels. However, he was not happy with his situation; he was jealous of God’s power. Lucifer challenged God, but God is omnipotent and easily defeated Lucifer, casting him out of Heaven into Hell below. Since then, Lucifer, or Satan, has worked to get revenge on God. He does this through causing pain and suffering to what God loves best: humans
Although millions of people believe in God there are still plenty of people who argue that God cannot exist if evil does: they are a contradiction
The Problem of Evil and Suffering
If God is omnipotent and omnibenevolent then how can evil exist?
If God is loving he would want to stop evil
If God was powerful he would be able to stop evil
So why doesn’t he?!
There are a number of responses to this question, some religious and some not

God's tenderness is compared to rain in three ways:
1) Rain is gentle and soft, displaying God's happiness or "tears of joy" during joyous occasions like births or conversions.
2) Just as rain nourishes and tends to plants' needs, God is like a gardener who makes all plants healthy.
3) Rain provides life to plants on Earth, and God's power of giving new life is similar to the life-giving power of rain.
1) The author rediscovers the meaning of Easter after the sudden death of a friend's father. They realize Easter represents living hope through Christ's resurrection, which continues today by offering comfort during times of sorrow.
2) The disciples had followed Jesus for three incredible years, witnessing miracles but also growing opposition. After Jesus' death, they were in despair until his resurrection, which validated his teachings and empowered them to continue his mission.
3) Easter celebrates Christ's victory over death through his resurrection. It offers redemption from sin and the promise that, through faith, we do not have to experience eternal death but can have new life.

Homily: 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time 2017James Knipper
“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Really? We have to love those that we fear? Those who are different from us? The ones who are strangers?
In the past few weeks there has been much written about the plight of the refugees. Politics aside, as Christians, we are called to live the Gospel…which is much harder than reading or preaching about it. So what does Jesus say in the Beatitudes? And how can Pope Francis, Brian McLaren and Leonardo DaVinci add some light on this hotly debated subject?

141 Encounters With Jesus an Adulterous Woman Rick Peterson
Adapted from a Jason Cole sermon series
https://www.sermoncentra.com/sermons/4-encounter-with-an-adulterous-woman-jason-cole-sermon-on-sin-exposed-66151?ref=SermonSeriesDetails
This document discusses the humanity of Jesus Christ. It begins by paraphrasing a fictional interview with Jesus where he describes discovering his identity as the Messiah through studying scriptures as a boy and experiencing rejection. It then examines why it was important that Jesus was both fully God and fully man. Jesus needed to be human to regain what Adam lost, bring people to salvation, disarm Satan, and serve as a merciful high priest. The document analyzes several biblical passages to support that Jesus was truly human in experiencing things like birth, death, emotions while also being divine. It aims to provide a fresh perspective on properly understanding Christ's dual nature.
“I learned to love Jesus more than my own parents” That is Jesus, the son of Mary the word of truth about” (which they are in dispute.” (Qur’ân 19:34 Jesus has been mentioned by name 25 times in the Qur’ân while Prophet Muhammad has been mentioned by name just five times. Additionally, the nineteenth chapter of the Qur’ân was named after the Virgin “Mary” while there is no chapter in the Qur’ân bearing the name of Prophet Muhammad’s mother, any of his wives or daughters. It is also noteworthy that Mary is the only woman mentioned by name in the Qur’ân. She is described in the most .honorable way as one chosen and favored over all women : Allāh says And [mention] when the angels said, “O Mary, indeed” Allāh has chosen you and purified you and chosen you ( 3:42 ) “.above the women of the worlds It is also noteworthy that Mary is the only woman .mentioned by name in the noble Qur’ân And the Qur’ân mentions that fair-minded Christians are : closest to the Muslims You will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers” those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant.” (5:82)

The document provides background on the author's journey from Catholicism to Islam. It discusses his childhood experiences with Catholic teachings and rituals. It then describes his experiences in the US where he was exposed to Muslims praying and learned about comparisons between Islam and Christianity. The author notes the Gospels were written decades after Jesus by unknown authors, raising questions about accuracy, while the Quran was directly revealed to Muhammad.
My great Love For Jesus Led Me To Islam Simon Alfredo Caraballoslideshare account
The document describes the author's journey from Catholicism to Islam. As a child, he had an intense love for Jesus that was cultivated by the Catholic Church's teachings. However, he struggled with some doctrines like the crucifixion. In the US for university, he witnessed Christians steal from someone in need and began doubting Christianity. Through independent research into Islam, he was convinced of its truth and monotheism, and finally accepted Islam despite love for Jesus.
This Sunday we hear the familiar Gospel of the woman who was caught in adultery and about to be stoned. Meanwhile the Scribes and the Pharisees, keepers of the Jewish Law, are not very happy with all the attention Jesus is getting, so they a lay trap for him. What does Christ do? Does he focus on the sin or the shame?
The insight to what this Gospel is really all about is broken open by a Jesuit working with the gangs in LA. See what I mean.
This document describes the author's journey from Catholicism to Islam. It details how he was deeply devoted to Jesus as a child but had questions about Christian doctrines like the crucifixion. As a teenager, he was influenced by paranormal experiences. When he witnessed Christians stealing, it further shook his faith. This led him to seek answers in Islam, where he found monotheism and teachings consistent with the original messages of Jesus and other prophets.
This Sunday we hear the familiar Gospel of the woman who was caught in adultery and about to be stoned. All the while it is a trap being laid for Christ. So how does the work of Fr. Greg Boyle S.J. dealing with gangs in LA shed light on what is this Gospel is all about? Check it out...
Josh McDowell was seeking meaning, purpose, happiness and freedom in life. He explored religion, education and prestige but did not find what he was looking for. He was intrigued by a group of Christian students who seemed different. They challenged him to examine the evidence for Christianity intellectually. Through his research, McDowell concluded that the New Testament documents were historically reliable and that the resurrection of Jesus was well-established. However, becoming a Christian challenged his ego and will. After much struggle, on December 19, 1959 McDowell prayed to accept Jesus Christ as his savior and lord, though he initially felt sick to his stomach with doubt about his decision.
This document provides an introduction to the author's book titled "The Messianic Faith: The Truth Behind the Female Messiah". The author intends to make the case that the Messiah was actually a black female. He will explore how Satan has deceived people and infiltrated the Messianic faith with paganism. This includes changing the names of God and the Messiah and disregarding some of the Messiah's teachings. The author will also propose a Messianic calendar incorporating the New Moon Sabbath. He acknowledges his writing abilities are lacking and will utilize multiple Bible translations to support his arguments. The document examines the pagan origins of some common religious terms like "God", "testament", and "Bible"
Homily: 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time 2018James Knipper
This Sunday we celebrated the gift of love and marriage during the World Day of Marriage. So how does the gift of love and marriage tie into the Gospel of Jesus healing the Leper? Leave it to the wisdom of a group of 4 – 8 year olds to shed light on all of this! How do they do it? And what does that mean to you? Check it out….
This Sunday we brought to a close Ordinary Time of our Liturgical season and through the year we have walked through the Gospel of Mark, using the Sunday gospels learning how to see as God sees. But the question remains whether we have allowed the words to help us see any better? In his latest book release, Fr. Greg Boyle, SJ reminds us that we need to see as a Mystic sees. Jesuit theologian Karl Rahner said, “The Christian of the future will either be a mystic – or (s)he will cease to be anything at all.” We are all called to be mystics? What does that even mean or look like today? Check it out…
The document provides an overview of a sermon given on the superiority of Jesus based on the book of Hebrews. It discusses how Jesus is greater than the prophets, angels, Moses, Joshua's salvation, the priests, and the old covenant. The sermon aims to encourage Hebrew Christians continuing to follow Jesus by demonstrating from Hebrews how he surpasses everything from the Old Testament. Key points included that Jesus became superior to angels, was faithful as God's son over his house, provides a Sabbath rest for people, and mediates a new covenant enacted on better promises.

2) It notes that many Christians are not committed to witnessing for Christ, for reasons like fear, lack of power, or not caring about the lost.
3) The pastor urges Christians to pray for boldness from the Holy Spirit to overcome these obstacles and have courageous conversations about their faith.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

2. There is a story about a legalistic Seminary
student who wanted to have a scriptural basis
for everything he did.
He felt he was on solid ground if he could
quote Bible book, chapter & verse to okay his
actions.
3. He did all right with that until he began to fall in
love with a beautiful girl.
He wanted very much to kiss her, but he just
couldn’t find a scripture to okay it.
So, true to his conscience, he would simply
walk her to the dormitory each night, look at
her longingly, & then say "Good night."
4. This went on for several weeks, & all the time
he was searching the Bible, trying to find some
scripture to okay kissing her good night.
But he couldn’t find one, until finally he came
across what the Apostle Paul wrote, "Greet
each other with a holy kiss."
He thought, "At last, I have scriptural authority
for kissing her good night."
5. But to be sure, he went to his hermeneutics
professor to check it out.
After talking with the professor, he realized that
the passage dealt more with a church setting
than with a dating situation.
So once again he simply didn’t have a passage
of scripture to okay kissing his girl good night.
6. That evening he walked her to the dormitory &
once again started to bid her "good night." But
as he did, she grabbed him, pulled him toward
her, & planted a 10-second kiss right on his
lips.
At the end of the kiss, the Seminary student
gasped for air, & stammered, "Bible verse,
Bible verse." The girl grabbed him a 2nd time,
& just before kissing him again, said, "Do unto
others as you would have them do unto you."
7. "Dearest Jimmy, No words could ever express
the great unhappiness I’ve felt since breaking
our engagement. Please say you’ll take me
back. No one could ever take your place in my
heart, so please forgive me. I love you, I love
you, I love you! Yours forever, Marie... PS, And
congratulations on willing the state lottery."
8. In 1993 the Sports man review stated that toy
companies watch divorce rates.
When it rises, so do toy sales.
According to the analyzers, four parents and
eight grandparents tend to compete for
children’s affections, so they buy toys.
The love of Jesus is different than any other
kind of love in our lives.
13. There’s an old story of a man who was walking
at night, and saw another man searching for
something near a lamp post. Approaching, he
asked the man what he was looking for, and
the man, without looking up, replied, “My
watch”. The first man asked, “Well, precisely
where were you standing when you dropped
it?”
14. Continuing his search, the man pointed a
finger in the distance and said, “Over there
somewhere.”
Incredulous, the first man said, “Well then sir,
why are you looking for it here?”
Finally looking up in frustration and meeting
the first man’s gaze, the searcher replied
testily, “Because sir, the light is better here!”
15. Some have been looking for God in all the
wrong places.
The great truth of Jesus is that He came into a
darkened world so that you can find what it is
that you have been missing. Perhaps it’s
easier to look for him on Television, or at work,
or on the golf course. But if you have lost him
you need to find out where he is.
When you get there He wants to give you a
new life.
16. February 15, 1921. New York City.
The operating room of the Kane Summit
Hospital.
A doctor is performing an appendectomy.
In many ways the events leading to the surgery
are uneventful.
The patient has complained of severe
abdominal pain.
17. The diagnosis is clear: an inflamed appendix.
Dr. Evan O’Neill Kane is performing the
surgery.
In his distinguished thirty-seven-year medical
career, he has performed nearly four thousand
appendectomies, so this surgery will be
uneventful in all ways except two.
18. The first novelty of this operation?
The use of local anesthesia in major surgery.
Dr. Kane is a crusader against the hazards of
general anesthesia.
He contends that a local application is far
safer.
Many of his colleagues agree with him in
principle, but in order for them to agree in
practice, they will have to see the theory
applied.
19. Dr. Kane searches for a volunteer, a patient
who is willing to undergo surgery while under
local anesthesia.
A volunteer is not easily found.
Many are squeamish at the thought of being
awake during their own surgery. Others are
fearful that the anesthesia might wear off too
soon.
Eventually, however, Dr. Kane finds a
candidate.
On Tuesday morning, February 15, the historic
operation occurs.
20. The patient is prepped and wheeled into the
operating room.
A local anesthetic is applied.
As he has done thousands of times, Dr. Kane
dissects the superficial tissues and locates the
appendix.
He skillfully excises it and concludes the
surgery.
During the procedure, the patient complains of
only minor discomfort.
21. The volunteer is taken into post-op, then
placed in a hospital ward.
He recovers quickly and is dismissed two days
later.
Dr. Kane had proven his theory.
Thanks to the willingness of a brave volunteer,
Kane demonstrated that local anesthesia was
a viable, and even preferable, alternative.
22. But I said there were two facts that made the
surgery unique.
I’ve told you the first: the use of local
anesthesia.
The second is the patient.
The courageous candidate for surgery by Dr.
Kane was Dr. Kane.
To prove his point, Dr. Kane operated on
himself! A wise move. The doctor became a
patient in order to convince the patients to trust
the doctor.
23. Jesus came to earth and he wants you to trust
Him for a new life made complete in Him.
The love of Jesus conforms us to a new
people.
On a wall near the main entrance to the Alamo
in San Antonio, Texas, is a portrait with the
following inscription: "James Butler Bonham--
no picture of him exists.
24. This portrait is of his nephew, Major James
Bonham, deceased, who greatly resembled his
uncle.
It is placed here by the family that people may
know the appearance of the man who died for
freedom.“
No literal portrait of Jesus exists either.
But the likeness of the Son who makes us free
can be seen in the lives of His true followers.
25. The love of Jesus transforms our lives in such
a way that Jesus is seen in us.
The Love of Jesus Commits us to new ministry.
Whatever is done for God, without respect of
its comparative character as related to other
acts, is service, and only that is service.
26. Service is, comprehensively speaking, doing
the will of God.
He is the object.
All is for Him, for His sake, as unto the Lord,
not as unto man.
Hence, even the humblest act of humblest
disciple acquires a certain divine quality by its
being done with reference to Him.
27. The supreme test of service is this:
’For whom am I doing this?’
Much that we call service to Christ is not such
at all. If we are doing this for Christ, we shall
not care for human reward or even recognition.
28. Our work must again be tested by three
propositions:
Is it work from God, as given us to do from
Him; for God, as finding in Him its secret of
power; and with God, as only a part of His
work in which we engage as co-workers with
Him."
What can I do because of this insight of
Christ’s love for me?
39. 2. Pray for all in Authority

3. A prayer that is steadfast

40. Ivan the IV was the first Czar of all Russia.
He was such a cruel man that they called him
"Ivan The Terrible.“
He married 7 wives & abused them all.
He was immoral & violent.
He used to throw animals off the Kremlin Walls
just to watch them die.
41. But when he died in 1584, historians record
that they shaved his head & dressed him for
burial in the robes of a monk, hoping that God
would think that Ivan the Terrible was a monk,
& thus allow him into heaven.
We cannot get to heaven by disguising
yourself & hoping God will think you are
someone else?
42. He knows my name he knows everything
about me, and he knows everything about you.
His love is different than any other love. But if
you want to experience the full benefit of His
love you have to surrender your whole self.
Are you willing to let him change you?
He wants to make you new.
43. Down the corridors of time He is shouting
trough this text, come home.
Let’s start fresh again.
The promise of God is that He will never
forsake you or leave you.
He is not going to leave or refuse to come with
you, He is not going to pass away.
He can be trusted.
If you want to trust him with your life, come.
