I'm responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, servicing and calibration
of all medical devices within the Department and Trust. Daily working in Critical Care and

2. I perform unsupervised Performance assurance/QA checks (PPM) and precision
repairs/calibration on highly complex multi-parameter medical equipment in a competent,
professional manner, which demands good manual dexterity, sensory awareness, use of fine
tools and small components, in-depth fault analysis and diagnostic skills and the ability to
maintain concentration through frequent interruptions, including requests for immediate
assistance to clinicians, where the demand for safety, precision, timeliness and accurate
documentation is paramount.
I repair of faulty medical equipment including detailed fault finding using service manuals
(on-line, electronic or hard copy) diagnostic flowcharts and test equipment. This will include
both workshop repairs and on-site repair of fixed or larger equipment items.
I work with and assist manufacturers in determining the cause of equipment failure by
sharing local clinical experience and knowledge, performing diagnostic tests required to
isolate faults, running diagnostic software and examining equipment error logs.
I am specialise in ventilators, infusion devices, patient monitoring and general biomedical
equipment having particular responsibility for maintenance and specialist knowledge of it.
I supervise external contractors carrying out equipment installation, commissioning, service
or repair activities.
