Target Commercial Interiors has provided
space planning and interior design ser-
vices for General Casualty’s offices across
the country for the last two decades.
Recently, we were engaged to find
solutions for reducing square footage in
a North Carolina leased space. The un-
needed space will then be subleased to
eliminate costs.
The plan we created reduced the square
footage on 2 floors from 30,927 sq. ft. to
22,992 sq. ft., while keeping the number
of employees consistent (118).
• Solutions primarily focused on
reduction of individually assigned
space in the open plan.
• Additional suggestions focus on
consolidation of mail rooms and
other ancillary space.

7. W HOTEL: FOSHAY TOWER project work
Minneapolis, MN hospitality
The local partnership responsible for the makeover of the his-
toric Foshay Tower in downtown Minneapolis into an upscale
hotel was challenged with preserving the past while melding
with the new. As part of the exclusive W brand, preserving the
Foshay’s historic features was complicated by the building’s
unusual obelisk shape. This tapered shape resulted in 53 dif-
ferent guest room layouts, substantially more than a conven-
tional hotel.
In order to meet the project objective of furnishing 230 rooms,
as well as restaurants, lounges and common areas, TCI part-
nered directly with factories and mills around the world with
the capacity and experience to custom manufacture F,F&E
assets specified by the Hotel’s design firm. TCI also delivered
all OS & E and managed the entire installation, on –time and
on-budget.
We are proud to have played a major role in the rebirth of a
Minneapolis landmark.

• Drapery – Mill direct sourcing yielded a 15% cost savings
• Room Carpeting – Target’s purchasing power achieved a 16% cost savings

pital, East Valley Clinic in Arizona provides an excellent exam-

The Cristo Rey Jesuit High School / Colin Powell Center in
Minneapolis is part of a network of 13 that began in Chicago
in 1996. An ambitious effort targeting economically disadvan-
taged, inner-city youth, this learning/living center is built from
the ground up and serves approximately 500 students.
TCI’s involvement with the private, college-preparatory high
school included a donation of building materials and more than
200 hours worth of project management and design expertise.
The new 160,000 square-foot state-of-the-art education and
recreational facility, which opened on October 4, 2007 is part
of a larger effort that combines education with real-world job
experience to help economically disadvantaged teens prepare
for a successful future.
Recognizing the importance of environment to learning, Cristo
Rey depended on Target Commercial Interior to provide prod-
ucts, design and current trends in productive interiors to com-
plete their project. Target was privileged to work with other
Twin City leaders in development, construction and commu-
nity services.
