Professional Background
Optimized Care Network
2016 – Present
In her leadership role for community health, Linda focuses on the integration of
telemedicine across the long-term care network, to change the paradigm of care and
enhance quality of life for our most vulnerable population of older adults – combining
high tech and high touch for true person-centered care.
The Ohio State University Office of Geriatrics and Gerontology
1992 to 2016
In her capacity as Director of the Office of Geriatrics and Gerontology at Ohio State,
Linda Mauger led all Office aging education and outreach efforts. The Office is the only
formally recognized unit devoted to aging on campus.
A primary mission of the Office is the administration of the Graduate Interdisciplinary
Specialization in Aging, which provides OSU graduate and professional students with
the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge in the field of aging while pursuing their
masters, Ph.D. or professional degree.
With community partners National Church Residences and Columbus Early Learning
Centers, Linda lead the creation of the Champion Intergenerational Enrichment and
Education Center which is unique nationally due to its partnership model and position
within the academic life of a major university. Research, education and training are the
foundation of the program, fostering a high quality of care and improved quality of life for
the children and adults served. The Office of Geriatrics and Gerontology provides
administrative leadership for the Center, a university/community collaboration between
the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing and Social Work and the community partners.
The Office also serves non-traditional students through distance education programs
that offer:
• Certificate of Completion in Gerontology,
• professional development through the Topics in Gerontology Program
• continuing education in end of life care,
2. • professional development and a certificate of completion for Professional Service
Coordinators,
• health literacy education for health care providers, and
• faculty development in teaching and leadership for health professions educators.
