•Targeted population: 400 transfer students who
registered courses in Spring semester 2010
•Survey type: Online only
•Response rate:16.5%
•Select data
Surveys - Second-round
•Targeted population: 150 new transfer students
who attended the Summer Orientation 2010 and
completed the survey
•Survey type: Print only
•Response rate: 56.7%
•Select data
2. Mapping Diaries
•One of the ethnographic research methods.
•Steps taken for completing the annotated
bibliography assignment using drawings, text, or

Sample Mapping Diaries from one research
participant
Pre-ILW-T Mapping Diary
Post-ILW-T and Post-AB Mapping Diary
Conclusions
•Transfer students who have attended the
information literacy workshop use both library
databases (79%) and the Internet (80%) as their
major research tools.
•The Annotated Bibliography assignment is helpful
for students to reflect their own research process
and increase their confidence on their research
performance.
Future Plan
•Develop an effective student learning outcomes
assessment cycle in order to advance transfer
student’s learning experience.
