Responsibilities include:
 Implementation, maintenance and close out of the clinical trial ensuring regulatory
compliance with VA Institutional Review Board (IRB) and US Army Human Research
Protections Office (HRPO). Write quarterly and annual reports to the granting agency,
Department of Defense;
 Oversee recruitment of Veterans with comorbid Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
(PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), maintain relationships with VA clinics and
recruitment sites in the community including local Veterans Centers, colleges and
universities;
 Pre-screen Veterans via data abstraction from VA medical records, phone screen and
obtain informed consent, administer and score neuropsychological tests; complying
with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

 Design and maintain research databases in Excel and SPSS complying with human
research protections office (HRPO) regulations for deidentification. Responsible for
randomization to two different psychotherapies;
 Scheduling Veterans in the VA computerized patient record system (CPRS) using
Veterans Health Information Systems & Technology Architecture (VISTA). Enter
phone screen and study visit notes into CPRS;
 Coordinate efforts and function as a liaison for Veterans with multidisciplinary staff of
study investigators, study psychologist, psychology fellows, and staff;
 Supervise research assistant and volunteers, provide guidance and prioritize tasks;
 Attend to administrative needs, including research record keeping, complying with
HRPO.
