What is Narcissism? (Wikipedia Definition)
Narcissism is a term that originated with Narcissus in Greek mythology who fell in love with his own image reflected in a pool of water. Currently it is used to describe the pursuit of gratification from vanity, or egotistic admiration of one's own physical or mental attributes, that derive from arrogant pride.
If we look at the nature of updates/tweets , pictures we get on our social profiles, we can easily make out that majority of them would be posted for the purpose of self-gratification and exhibitionism.

A PowerPoint Presentation I made demonstrating how my Twitter professional learning network grew over a month and a half, while taking EDIT 202 spring session 2013 at university of alberta.
1. Professional Learning Network
I decided to utilized Twitter as an outlet for
creating and interacting with my Professional
Learning Network.
Since Twitter was very new to me, I decided to
begin my PLN by following some individuals that
I knew were experts in the field of education.
Within the first day, I had followed George
Couros, Alberta Education, and Alberta Teachers’
Association.
2. This is a
snapshot of
my Twitter
profile after
the first day
of opening
my account!
3. Prior to
submitting my
assignment, I
had followed 20
people on
Twitter and
gained 1
follower (George
Couros)!
4. Nearing the end of my 4th
week, I have grown a
little more comfortable
with “Tweeting” and have
gained a few more
followers.
I have found many more
individuals and
organizations to follow !
5. Following @gcouros
George Couros peaked my interest during his
presentation on Professional Learning
Networks as someone that I knew I was going
to follow on Twitter. George has proven to be a
great resource for information about teaching
and a trusted and reliable source for ongoing
learning and growth. He is very active on
Twitter which tells me that the information
that he “Tweets” about will be up-to-date!
6. Following @DiscoveryEd
Discovery Education is a terrific resource for
all things science-related! @DiscoverEd also
extends to include information for healthy
living, environmental sustainability and
information for connecting with other
educators!
7. Following @activeforlife
I decided to follow @activeforlife because they
offer great ideas and tips for integrating
physical activity into the classroom. Since this
subject area is high on my list of priorities as a
pre-service teacher, I have found it helpful to
gain insight into this area. I know that
@activeforlife will continue to be a great
resource for me well into my future career as
an educator!
8. Engaging with my PLN…
Through developing my PLN on Twitter, I have
been able to engage in “Tweeting” discussions
during my EDIT 202 class. I have also been
able to reconnect with a former classmate and
fellow student teacher from my Introductory
Professional Term at Ben Calf Robe school.
Through these connections, I have been able
to learn more about learning opportunities in
Edmonton (i.e., Ted Talk on Special
Education).
