Sarah Fishel proposes a summer internship to promote healthy lifestyles among young girls aged 8-15. The document cites statistics showing many girls have poor body image and low self-esteem, fearing weight gain more than serious health issues. Fishel aims to address this through programs teaching healthy eating, decision-making, and positive self-esteem via partnerships with organizations like parks and recreation departments. The goal is to inspire girls and create "a chain reaction" of empowerment.
2. Why now?
During Superbowl XLIX, Always premiered a
commercial geared towards promoting a new way of
thinking. This movement has since created a wave of
new thought in terms of
what it means to do something
“Like a Girl”.
There is no better time to influence young girls into
adopting a healthy lifestyle.
3. 7 in 10 girls believe
they are not good
enough
Girls reported being more
afraid of gaining weight than
they are of
cancer, nuclear war,
or losing a parent
80% of children who are
10 years old
are afraid of being fat
74% of girls say they are
under pressure
to please everyone
In a survey
3 out of 4 females stated
that they were overweight
1 out of 4 actually were
Why is
change needed?
4. Taking Action
Goal: Target young girls to promote healthy
eating, informed decision-making, and positive
self-esteem

6. Who were those girls?
That’s easy.
They are the young girls who we see everyday.
Let’s teach them how to live a positive lifestyle, so
that one day another little girl can be inspired by
the actions of another woman.
Let’s create a chain reaction.

who & what she wants”
