Film Pitch - Lifeline

Our Film - Lifeline
• Our film bases around the usual codes and
conventions for psychological thrillers, with a
large emphasis on the unknown, and mental
ability/disability. The overall film will follow
  Torodov's theory of equilibrium.
Plot
• Equilibrium: Belle, the main characters normal day to day life will be shown, spending time with her
boyfriend and her dog (this will also be shown in the trailer). Her life will follow a normal pattern with day
to day routines and nothing extravagant happening, something which is fairly traditional within the
    beginning of psychological thrillers.
• Disequilibrium: The less than thrilling lifestyle Belle leads will suddenly be disrupted by the main
antagonist, a character who is sent on trial for stalking Belle herself, something she had no idea was going
on. This will obviously have a large impact on the character, and make her feel less than safe in her own
home upon seeing the evidence for the trial which consists of a makeshift timeline full of images of her
over her lifetime. What Belle won't be told is that there is more than one victim in this, and many other
timelines were found of other people, with no obvious link between them. During this time, everything in
Belle's life will begin to disintegrate, ruining aspects of her life bit by bit. Her boyfriend will leave her, her
dog gets run over, and a long list of other 'coincidences'. It will then come to light that there is someone
trying to make her life turn out like this, someone else with control over timelines, who is causing all this
grief in her life, and many other lives. Belle discovers this when she goes home to find her family home has
been broken in to and photographs of herself have been left everywhere, but photos of all the bad things
that have occurred, including an image of her at that moment in time. When she secretly goes to visit the
original stalker in prison (where he is being detained until the end of the trial) he tells her
everything, twisting the facts she knows on their heads as it turns out, he is a good guy. His main aim in
life has been to correct everything the actual antagonist does, and to stop all these bad things happening
to people. Belle's new goal is to prove him innocent, something that doesn't work, as the other guy is still
at large and causing bad things to happen to her and others. It becomes clear to Belle that she needs to
find him, and stop him somehow. Although everything she has to do needs to be kept secret, and never
mentioned, to limit the possibility of him finding out. She enrols the help of the other victims, and
together they manage to find him and cut the timelines, destroying them and his power. They take all the
photographs and hide them, too afraid to destroy them.
• New equilibrium: The new equilibrium will occur when Belle manages to destroy the evidence against the
original antagonist for the trial, and he cannot be detained any further, as all victims do not want to press
charges. With the man they've grown to understand free and the workings of the antagonist destroyed, a
new order is restored, until the photographs are found in her home, rebuilt into timelines, with all the new
workings out done by Belle herself.
Locations

As is typical with a psychological thriller, our
locations will be everyday ones, that take on a
new significance as the plot develops;

• Houses
•Streets
•Open and enclosed spaces – early in the
film/trailer.
