Volunteers are trained on library procedures including signing in and out, shelving books using the Dewey Decimal system, and checking books out using the catalog system and barcodes. The training covers library organization, Dewey numbers, barcodes, and provides an opportunity for volunteers to practice shelving books in different sections. Volunteers are asked to inform security, sign in, wear a name tag, and sign out at the end of their shift while assisting students by shelving books, supervising, reading, and meeting others.
