The Irish presence in the global published recordlisld
The global diffusion of published materials is one way in which a country projects its identity. This presentation will present some findings from a new study of Ireland’s presence in the published record, part of OCLC Research’s continuing work exploring cultural patterns and trends through library bibliographic and holdings data. It will touch on materials published in Ireland, by Irish people, and/or about Ireland. Irish materials – and by extension, Irish publishers, Irish authors, and Ireland itself – form a significant presence in the published record; this talk will trace some of their distinctive characteristics and patterns of global diffusion. The data for the study is drawn from WorldCat. The study shows that Gulliver's Travels is the most popular Irish work of literature as measured by library holdings, and that Eoin Colfer is the most popular contemporary Irish author.

Sharing is caring keynote 'Enriching cultural heritage collections through a ...Mia
Today I'd like to present both a proposal for something called the 'Participatory Commons', and a provocation (or conversation starter): there's a paradox in our hopes for deeper audience engagement through crowdsourcing: projects that don't grow with their participants will lose them as they develop new skills and interests and move on. This talk presents some options for dealing with this paradox and suggests a Participatory Commons provides a way to take a sector-wide view of active engagement with heritage content and redefine our sense of what it means when everybody wins.
[I was invited to Copenhagen to talk about my research on crowdsourcing in cultural heritage at the 3rd international Sharing is Caring seminar on April 1. I'm sharing my notes in advance to make life easier for those awesome people following along in a second or third language, particularly since I'm delivering my talk via video. My notes are at http://openobjects.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/sharing-is-caring-keynote-enriching.html ]
Suffrage in Texas Expanded (SITE) is a digital humanities project that was initiated by members of the TWU Libraries’ Digital Scholarship & Initiatives Work Group. We were inspired by the Constitution Day 2020 programming that celebrated the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, Women’s Right to Vote, the group researched an alternative history of Suffrage in Texas, a history that includes traditionally marginalized peoples. The lead researcher, Veronica Popp, expanded the scope of the project as an intersectional analysis of voting rights in Texas - how race, gender, class, region, education, and religion all played into how women organized for their rights at the ballot box, what they believed was a human right.

Hadj Ounis's most notable work is his sculpture titled "Metamorphosis." This piece showcases Ounis's mastery of form and texture, as he seamlessly combines metal and wood to create a dynamic and visually striking composition. The juxtaposition of the two materials creates a sense of tension and harmony, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between nature and industry.
