Mammals are animals that nourish their young with milk, have more developed brains than other animals, and spend more time raising their offspring. They mate through displays like calling, staring contests, biting and kicking to select mates. Examples include armadillos, bats, carnivores, marine mammals, primates, pouched mammals, rodents, moles, hoofed mammals and rabbits such as deer mice, little brown bats, sea lions and dolphins. The author's favorite mammal is the moose, the largest deer which lives in northern forests and swamps and has antlers up to 85 pounds.
