This document summarizes an article exploring religio-cultural processes of formation (logo-paideia) in the American context. It discusses how the cultural foundations of any society are rooted in religious dynamics, and how in the US these dynamics have been in flux. It aims to understand formerly functional social processes of formation to explore what new foundations might support formation. It also discusses how approaches to holistic formation have changed, moving away from traditional Christian models toward secular or new age approaches, and the challenges this poses for a pluralistic society.
