We positively shape the future of
cities and regions by leveraging
urban data
Our Mission
Create the technical and
organisational basis for simple and
effective data use

8. Management of Sharing-Mobility providers

Sensors at sharing-

Real-time data from
NextBike
Until now, cities have had few possibilities to coordinate sharing offers from different providers - and
that is why they should be centrally recorded in Cologne. We are therefore presenting the locations
of e-trolleys and e-bikes of the Cologne public transport company (KVB) and Next Bike in a
dashboard. It visualises which vehicles have been parked unused for a long time and where there is
greater demand due to events, at public transport stops or other points of interest.

Benefits for citizens
E-scooters and sharing bikes no longer block pavements - and are
there where citizens need them: whether at a concert, a football
match, a tourist attraction or for the last mile after using public
transport.
Challenge & Solution
Possibility to adapt rules dynamically to situations
Reduction of unnecessary vehicles and corresponding costs
Optimised coordination of sharing vehicles
Increasing the efficiency and attractiveness of public transport
