From my preliminary task to the final magazine product, I learned how to better use my camera equipment and manage lighting and backdrops. I also improved at managing human resources like models, having to find someone specifically fitting for an indie pop magazine. Time management was more important for the final product, allowing for retakes if needed. My creative decisions changed significantly from the preliminary task, requiring audience research on indie pop genres. Problem solving for image editing was needed due to my model's frizzy hair not cutting out cleanly. Props like a guitar and costumes like a bright Hawaiian shirt helped achieve the indie pop aesthetic.

My preliminary tasks for my magazine cover were low quality, with a blurry close-up front cover that did not connect with audiences. The lighting and angles of photos in the contents section made understanding the images difficult. For mockups, the author experimented with black and white photos and improved lighting, representing a progression from preliminary work. Red text was added to stand out against the black and white images and wrap around models for improved readability. In the final production, the author applied the black and white and text styling learned in mockups but changed the model to maintain the standard set by the pleased mockups.

My main goal for this year is to graduate. This fall I will be attending Kennesaw State University. For my senior project I decided to do photography. I’ve always been interested in photography. You can say it’s been my passion ever since I’ve been a small little girl. For my product I’m making a photo album. I started taking several pictures with different types of light exposure. At first I didn’t know that what made the picture perfect was the type of light you were surrounded with. When I started working on my research paper I started reading about the different types of light. I was amazed at how something so simple made a big difference. When I started getting the hang of my camera and how to actually use it, my pictures started showing drastic changes. They were coming to life, with colors that were vivid. In photography the hardest part to master is lighting, and I think that I’m becoming better and better. Doing the senior project came with a lot of research. Before the senior project I didn’t know that much about photography; to be honest, I would just take a picture and call it photography. Doing all this has made me understand that I would only want to do this as a hobby and I wouldn’t want to make it more than just a hobby, at least not for now but maybe in the near future. I believe that doing the senior project helps you realize that the career you thought you wanted may not be the career you want for a lifetime.
