Professional Development Goals
The first thing that should be noted is that psych nursing is a recent academic option, which is highly relevant that more people are trained in it and help to broaden and deepen the scientific foundation of the care it offers. Although the psych nurses are already able to carry out different activities without the need for another health professional to indicate them, it is important that they can acquire greater independence so that their contribution is even greater, which is my first professional development goal. Therefore, the degree in psych nursing must be strengthened, with studies and evidence that allow the framework of the work of those who practice it to grow and, in turn, encourage its professionals to intervene promptly to avoid complicating the medical situation of a patient.
I would like to be supportive, have a vocation for service, be responsible, and be organized. It is these basic qualities that will allow me to develop a nursing career. The organization and responsibility would be oriented there because the nurse, by nat.
Decision aids help patients and clinicians decide on the best course of treatment, incorporating evidence from systematic reviews, patient values, individual risk factors, and expert recommendations, all in an intuitive and interactive format.

1. An Academic Affiliate of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine
August 29, 2013
To Whom it May Concern:
Dr Shruti Kaul completed a summer internship at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC)
from May 20, 2013 through August 8, 2013. At that time she was a graduate student at Texas
A&M University enrolled in their Health Science Center. RIC is a free standing, non-profit
hospital affiliated with the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University and
specializes in providing rehabilitation for people of all ages and with a variety of illnesses,
injuries, and disabilities. RIC has been rated America’s #1 rehabilitation hospital by U.S. News
& World Report for the past 23 years, and has earned a worldwide reputation as being a leader in
patient care, advocacy, research and education of health professionals in physical medicine and
rehabilitation. Shruti worked in RIC’s Global Patient Services department which provides
specialized case management to patients with complex needs who travel to RIC from around the
world.
Ms. Kaul is a capable, efficient and diligent professional. She very easily integrated into our
department, forging good working relationships with the immediate team and reaching out to
others whose advice or assistance was needed in order to complete her assigned tasks. She
quickly mastered systems within the hospital (including the electronic medical record, our
internal referral log protocol, outlook organization etc). Her ability to work independently with
minimal supervision is a clear strength as is her comfort with technology and data analysis. She
demonstrates a good working knowledge of health care policy and hospital operations. She takes
responsibility for her own education, is eager to learn and open to a wide variety of experiences
which also positions her well for any future endeavors.
The primary project assigned to Ms Kaul during her internship was to research, design and
implement a patient satisfaction survey for International Patients at RIC. She accomplished this
task with great success. She did an excellent job of benchmarking externally to determine best
practices, gathering relevant information from clinical staff about what information would be
helpful, working with internal leaders in IT and Outcomes Management to determine the most
efficient/cost-effective format and then designing the final product. The survey designed by Ms
Kaul will be adopted by our department in the coming year and provides a meaningful
contribution to our program.
2. An Academic Affiliate of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine
I feel confident recommending Ms Kaul for future employment in health care. She is a caring,
thoughtful individual with clear career goals and a strong work ethic. Please feel free to contact
me if you have any additional questions.
