Tommy enjoys learning English and has a good English teacher and friendly classmates who make learning the language interesting. He has been studying English for 5 years and has improved, especially in listening skills. Tommy also likes watching television in the evenings, especially news, science, and technology programs on Discovery and National Geographic channels. This widens his knowledge and relaxes him after a hard day of work.

Well, it is interesting and useful for me to learn English. I have a good English teacher and also friendly classmates.
They make me more interested in learning English.
Now, let me introduce my English class. There are twenty nine students and one smart teacher. His name is Peter. He is
tall, handsome and very friendly. Furthermore, he makes us motivated and feel comfortable in his class. I have been
learning English for 5 years. At first, I found it difficult to master listening skill. But he helped me so much with
grammar, reading, writing and listening and my English has improved a lot.
I have wonderful classmates. They are all young except me. Actually, I am an oldest man in class. They come from
difference countries such as Vietnam, Japan, China, Thailand and etc. Most of them are very good at learning English
because they all want to pass exams.

I don’t usually eat out because I like the food cooked by my wife. But sometimes I also eat out with my friends. I like
Bia hoi Hanoi restaurant the best. It is about 1 kilometer from my house. I eat very little food but drink three or four
glasses of beer with my team. It is really fresh and delicious. I am served by friendly and nice waters and waitresses.
That restaurant is very large and clean. Besides, the price is reasonable, not expensive at all. It makes me feel
comfortable when we eat there. That is why I like eating out in “ Biahoi Hanoi” restaurant
I will invite you go there when you visit me next time.

You told me that you have just seen a brilliant programme about dolphins on television and you find it so interesting.
Dolphins is an intelligent animal. Therefore , there are many programmes about them on television. All of them are very
useful and worth seeing. Also, I sometimes search for their information from newspaper, internet, television to widen my
knowledge of dolphins.
I think television is one of most useful ways to learn more about everything that happens in our daily life. I usually
spend 2 or 3 hours watching TV with my family every evening. As you know my favourite programme is the news,
science and technology. So the channels I usually watch are Discovery, National Geographic.
I think, watching television programme not only widens / opens my knowledge but also relaxes my mind after hard work.
Nowadays, TV plays an important role in our life. More and more TV programmes are broadcasted everyday for us to
see.

You told me that you want to know my recent holiday. Well it was great. I am happy to share with you happy
moments of my summer vacation. I went to Cua Lo beach which is placed in a small seaside town of Nghe An province.
After a long and exhausting journey by train, we arrived at Vinh Station. Then we got on a touring car and traveled to
Cua lo. Cua Lo is small town with population of about 100 thousand people. There are many beautiful places worth
visiting such as Cua Lo beach, Hon Ngu Isand, fish market and etc. This is the first time I have been to Cualo town for
holiday.
I spent most of my time going sightseeing and taking a sunbath on the beach. I walked along the beach, played football
and volleyball on the sand with friends. In the evening, I went to restaurant to enjoy the dinner with many different kinds
of seafood.
I think that traveling on holiday not only opens / widens my knowledge but also relaxes my mind after hard work. In
addition, the local people are very friendly when they gave you a warm welcome. Therefore, it was easy to get on well
with them. If you came with me, you would share the same feeling. Hope you can join me next holiday,

In your last letter, you said you had moved to a new house in the city. What does it look like ? What kind of furniture
have you got ? Tell me about it ?

Thanks for your letter. I’m so pleased to hear from you. You told me that you want to know what my new flat looks like.
Well, I love it very much. My new flat is into a block of flats near the city center but it is in a quiet street. It is not o
small as our old one. It is more comfortable than my old house. There are six rooms in the flat, one living room, one
study room, one toilet and two bedrooms, one kitchen. My room is painted blue and white and there is plenty of space
for everything I need. My bedroom has an air –conditioner, a television, a reading table and a make-up table….etc.
The best thing about this flat is balcony. It is not only really big but also has a good view of West Lake. Fortunately, my
new flat is near my office, so it takes me about 10 minutes to go to work by motorbike everyday. I hope you will come to
see it soon.

I have always wanted to know more about your favourite sport. Tell me about it. Why do you like it ?

Thanks for your letter. I’m so pleased to hear from you. You told me that you want to know my favourite sport . Well ,
it is great to hear that you often play sport at weekends. My favourite sport has always been tennis. Well, I love it ! I
started playing when I was at university. At first, it was difficult for me to play it. After some training, I got used to play
it and now I am not so bad at it.
All equipment you need to play tennis is a tennis – racket, tennis – ball, tennis – court and of course tennis mates. We
often play in pairs in a tennis match. I play it twice or three times a week.
Sometimes, after the games, we go for a beer and chat with each other. I believe it is the most complete sport for training
the body. Playing tennis not only practices the body but also relaxes my mind after hard work.
To me, play tennis is good way to train the body. I hope you can join a match with my team in future. It will be great if
you accept my invitation.

I hve just joined a film club. I have already seen some fantastic films. What kind of films do you like watching ?

I like films about heros. I went to the cinema for films with my girlfriend when I was at university. Nowadays I rarely go
to the cinema, but last week on the occasion of my children’s birthday, I took my daughter / son to see a fantastic film. It
was horror films. It was interesting but frightening. My daugter/son was very interested in the content of films.
I prefer watching films on television to seeing films at the cinema. There are many kind of films on television such as
romantic, fantastic, horror, action and hero films … eg. But I like watching action and hero films. I usually spend 2 or 3
hours watching films on television every Sunday evening. Watching films on television at home is more comfortable
than at the cinema. Addition, Watching television not only widens/ opens my knowledge but also relaxes my mind after
hard work. Do you like watching films on television ?

You told me that you want to know my work and my hobbies. Well, I am an electrical engineer, I work for power
transmission company Number one as an officer. I am in charge of operating and fix transmission lines. I love my job
because it is interesting and well-paid.
Now, I tell you about my hobbies. I like music very much and I usually listen to music in the evening after dinner and
finishing my housework. Sometimes, I watch films on television. I like fantastic films and action films. I prefer
watching films on television to seeing films at the cinema. To me, watching television not only opens my knowledge but
also relaxes my mind after hard work. At weekends , I usually play tennis. I am very interested in playing tennis. That
is good way for to train body and very good for health.
If I go to the UK, I will come to visit places of interest such as Big Ben, Tower of Lodon, etc,… and try the local food.

Well, There are many beautiful places you can visit in my country. You can travel to Sapa where is most famous
peaceful in the North of Vietnam. If you want to visit South of Vietnam , you should travel to DALAT. DALAT is the
most beautiful for foreign tourists to go on holiday.
If you are interested in the sea, you should go to Cua lo town for holiday. It is about 300 km far from HN city. You can
travel to Cualo by train or by touring car. Both of them are OK !. In this Town , you can see many beautiful places such
as: Cualo seaside, HONNGU Island, fish market ,. .. etc . You can have a sunbath on the beach, go swimming, play
football and volleyball on the sand with friends. The local people are very friendly, so it is very easy to get on well with
them. Especially, the local girls are very beautiful but it is difficult to make friends with them.
I think you should go there because traveling not only opens my knowledge but also relaxes my mind after hard work. I
am happy if I can join you as a guide.

my country. Well, there are many different traditional festivals in Vietnam. For example , there are many traditional
festivals in different parts of the country like Hung King Temple Festival in Vietri Phu Tho, Hue Festivals in Hue city.
Hue traditional festival is the most important culture festivals. People had the celebration every year. Hue is a romantic
historic city with many tombs of famous Kings. Hue is a beautiful place that attracts thousands of local and international
visitors every year. It is about 700 km far from HN city of VN.
I have been to Hue twice for the celebration. It is wonderful, the local people are very friendly, so it is very easy to get on
well with them. Especially, the local girls are very beautiful and attractive with long hair and pretty aodai dress. Visiting
Hue festival not only opens knowledge of Vietnam culture but also relaxes my mind after hard work.
