Dominic Hayes is a 17-year-old musician from the UK who is currently the most listened to teenager. He developed a love of music from his father and friends and started singing in primary school music club. While in his last few months of college revising for exams, his typical day involves interacting with fans, making music, and going to the gym. He writes songs about overcoming hard times inspired by his father. Dominic enjoys playing pop music that has broad appeal for teenagers and young adults. His goal is to continue growing his large fan base and someday tour the UK and world.
Music to me is an art that stands amongst a few other things I enjoy profoundly. Music is something I can turn to in whichever mood I’m in. It can cheer me up when I’m feeling down. It can calm me down when I’m worked up and very often it has been able to give me good energy. It can motivate me when I feel demotivated with anything. Music has also been a great source of inspiration to me. Music alone has not captured me but lyrical content has also contributed towards my love for music
1. Title: All you need to know about Dominic Hayes
First all of all thank you for having his interview, it’s one of your first ever interviews so I am sure
your fans are very excited about this, so on with the questions, you’re the most listened to
teenager in the UK at the moment so how did your love for music come about?
I’ve loved music for as long as I can remember really, my dad and friends were the people that got
me into it though but as for singing I started off with my primary school’s music club, I had great fun
and really enjoyed it so I decided to carry on further after primary school so I got singing lessons and
was desperate to learn how to play the guitar but I never could as we didn’t have the money but It’s
looking like its turned out for the best luckily.
So what is your day to day life like? Are you living a superstar life with your music being this
popular?
[Laughs] It’s not like that at all but I do have benefits of course like being able to afford having a car
at only 17 so no more college buses for me! [Laughs] I am currently in the last 2months of college
and am getting ready for my exams, which has been such a pain! I’ve not been able to create new
music or interact with my fans as I’ve been really busy but when it’s all finally over I should be
making music full time, well as long as my fans still enjoy it!
What was your most embarrassing life experience so far?
[Laughs] oh god, ermm… sorry I’m not going to say on here, as it was pretty embarrassing to say the
least haha, sorry to disappoint.
So what else do you do apart from playing music?
Well at the moment as I’ve said I am revising for my A levels mostly and not going out too much but
normally I go out often with my friends to clubs and parties which everyone enjoys. I am also quite
active as I go to the gym 2-3 times a week and enjoy playing some sports such as swimming, tennis
and a few more, it keeps me healthily and stay fit which is really important.
So were there any reasons behind writing that song?
I wrote this song due to having some amazing people in my life but my biggest influence was my dad
as he’s the person who got me into music and he’s gone though some hard times in his life that he
was overcome, so that was my biggest influence in how I created my music and what I was about but
it could also be about anything so it’s great because anyone can relate to my music no matter what
age or life situation they might be in.
Why did you decide to play this kind of music?
Because I enjoy listening to it and it has a very broad audience, which most teenagers/ young adults
like listening to this genre of music and I just want to get as many people as possible to enjoy my
music. Which has been the key really to why I have grown at such a fast rate, that I still can’t believe
being only 17 and having a following this big, I am just so lucky to be doing this well.
2. How do you sell your music?
At the moment I am using iTunes to get my music to my fans but I also have my CD is shops such as
hmv. I personally think these are the best ways of getting my music to my target audience and plus
it’s easy to use. I am currently trying to get a website as well to sell my music on as well as having
blogs keeping my fans up to date with what I am doing in my life.
What should your fans be looking out for in the future?
Well hopefully in the future if everything goes well, I should be bring out dates and tickets for
concerts across the UK and my dream is to travel the world so in the distance future I would love to
tour the world.
