The Homosexualities Project aimed to prevent the spread of AIDS among men who have sex with men in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil from 1993-1997. It sought to confront stigma around homosexuality and promote safer sex practices. Key activities included formative research, information campaigns, outreach in LGBT venues, collaboration with health services, workshops, condom distribution, and evaluating outcomes. The project concluded that prevention required addressing individual behaviors as well as broader issues like discrimination, violence, and economic oppression facing at-risk communities.
