Lecture- 14
Subject – Pharmaceutical Analysis-I
Course – B. Pharm 1st Year
Faculty Name – Umesh Kumar
Indicators
 Generally three types of indicators we use in various
titrations-
◦ Internal Indicators
 Eg. Diphenyl benzidine violet
◦ Self Indicators
 Eg. Potassium Permanganate
◦ External Indicators
 Eg. Potassium ferricyanide
Redox Titrations
 Redox titrations are based on the Oxidation-Reduction
reactions, these reactions are the chemical processes in
which a change in the valency of reacting elements or
ions takes place.
 Types of Redox Titrations-
Various types of redox titrations are available in analytical
techniques-
Types;
 Cerimetry
 Iodimetry
 Iodometry
 Bromometry
 Dichrometry
 Titration with Potassium iodate
