11. Conclusions:
Retention rather than removal of the displaced
condyle and disc.
condyle and disc are left untouched in their
medial position so as to provide normal function
and growth.

12. Advantages :
(1) safe - less chance of bleeding, particularly from the maxillary artery
(2) disc helps to prevent recurrence of ankylosis - disc act as interpositional material
(3) existing ramus height is maintained - prevent open bite
(4) growth site is preserved
(5) no need to reconstruct the joint with autogenous or alloplastic material
