• Government hostile to Christianity
• Culture: pagan and ungodly!
• Many false religions flourished!
• Drugs, drunkenness, sexual
immorality and homosexuality!
• Christianity was notorious for
splits and factions!

3. CORINTH...
• Very litigious society…people
suing each other!
• Confusion about marriage…and
divorce was common!
• Some, in the church, condoned
loose behavior, while others were
very rigid and judgmental!

4. CORINTH...
• People who did go to church were
looking for exciting emotional
experiences, rather than the solid
teaching of God’s Word.
• People were denying the reality of
the supernatural and miracles, like
the resurrection!
