February 16 - The event that starts the conversation.
Augusta University's Morris Eminent Scholar, Professor Cheryl Goldsleger, in conjunction with the
Department of Art brings LASER, the internationally known gathering of art, science and technology to
our campus, community and the CSRA. LASER promotes interactive discussion to foster
conversations between the arts and sciences. Our LASER Event is affiliated with Leonardo/The
International Society for the Arts, Sciences and Technology (Leonardo/ISAST - www.leonardo.info), a
nonprofit organization serving the global network of distinguished scholars, artists, scientists,
researchers and thinkers through programs focused on interdisciplinary work, creative output and
innovation.
Our inaugural event will be moderated by Mr. J.D. Talasek, Director of Cultural Programs at
National Academy of Sciences, Washington, DC. Our theme is the influence of 3D technology on
visual arts and medicine. Four panelists will participate in the discussion: Amanda Behr
(anaplastology), Cheryl Goldsleger (artist), Dr. Michael Schwartz (art history), and Dr. Paul
Weinberger (otolaryngology). Audience members are encouraged to participate and share current
projects and works in this field.
