2. HISTORY OF NATIONAL FEDERATION
• Lao Tennis Federation (LTF) previously had the name as of Vientiane Tennis
Club is established in 1954-1955. After the foundation of the Lao PDR in
1975, the Ministry Education, Sport and Culture had a directive and policy
on Lao sport development to create the Lao Tennis Federation;
• LTF is so established in 1988 having its Executive Committee to lead the
building of sport men and to organize sport competitions, in particular, the
first national sport competition.
• In 1973, the Lao tennis players have participated in the SEAP GAMES in
Singapore and won a silver medal;
• Tennis is the only one among the sport categories from Laos that was
included in the sport competition in the 7th ASIAN GAMES in 1974
organized in Iran.
3. TENNIS DEVELOPMENT IN LAOS
• Generally, tennis sport is still not so popular in comparing to the other
sport categories and the tennis courts are not enough sufficient;
• The number of tennis players are still limited, they are subject to economic
conditions and their family support, and they are available only in the main
provinces, such as: Vientiane Capital; Savannakhet; Champassak and Luang
Prabang;
• Coaches’ qualifications are limited and ability of the players is mainly based
on their own talents;
• LTF has defined a tennis development policy under the leads of the High
Level Sport Department, Ministry Education, Sports and Culture;
• LTF has received the assistance from ITF in coaching, coaching equipment
and sponsorship from ITF and ATF in sending the tennis players who have a
basic playing capacity into training camps.

6. TOURNAMENT & COMPETITION
• LTF pays its attention to the skill development of the players from the
pioneers, youths and senior players to share and to classify the skill
levels by organizing a series of competitions in the main provinces,
such as: Vientiane Capital; Savannakhet ;Champassak and Louang
Prabang;
• A competition is organized based on the favourable conditions of
each province. The Federation attempted to seek the sponsored
companies and to encourage the players to create the tennis
animating sport process;
7. ORGANIZATION OF TENNIS COMPETITION
• Agendas of sport competition are as the followings:
• Annual competition (to mark the National Day);
• Competitions organized to mark the national important days;
• National Sport Competition Games (in every 2 years);
• National Sport competitions for colleges;
• General competitions between various tennis clubs.
8. PLAYER PATHWAY & ASSORTED DEVELOPMENT
• LTF pays its attention to the players who have abilities, talents and competitive
achievements in order to create them for national team;
• Coaching under JTI project of ITF is considered as an effective pilot project, an
introduction of tennis sport down to the grass-roots, mainly, to schools;
• Some trainees by independent coaches have received certificates of Level 1, and
others trainees have not;
• LTF gives priority to use its tennis courts for coaching, including training for
competition of the national team (pioneers and youths);
• Organization of competition for skill tests;
• Promotion and encouragement of participation in the competitions organized in
the regions and in neighbouring countries, such as, in Thailand.

10. COACHES EDUCATION- DEVELOPMENT
• GOL start to develop Sport Academy to prepare 5 years plan;
• LTF has gathered the coaches in order to promote their roles and
experiences by organizing the coaches to open the trainings;
• Coaches with certificates of Level 1 are members of the Executive
Committee of the Federation and responsible for coaching and
training activities of the Federation;
• LTF is attempting to request the assistance from ITF for level
enhancement and coaches building.
• ITF has arranged coaching program in Laos several times and
produced up to now 10 coaches;
