Students used Microsoft Word to create various language arts projects including poetry, a character journal, and a menu for a restaurant. Some of the projects included an autobiographical poem about a character named Brandon, a color poem about the color pink, and cinquains about the seasons. A character journal was also created covering the diary entries of a Captain Edward Burton about his experiences in war. Finally, a menu was designed for a fictional restaurant called New York Bread & Co. offering items like juices, sodas, coffees, breads, bagels, desserts, sandwiches, and appetizers.

7. Diary of Captain Edward Burton Today we officially won the war. It has been a long and stressful experience that was painful to me and to my family. When I was assigned back to duty, my wife (Ann) took it horribly. She wouldn't write back to my letters and I was beginning to worry about what it would be like when I came home. Fortunately, she came about. The war was hard and I was furious about untrained men going into air combat and dying! To this day, I still have memories I'll never forget.
