The traditional water landscapes in the Barcelona area have been invisible under the silence of a growing social forgetfulness and set aside to a marginal role in the current urban planning.
Yet they are a main structural factor to restart the damaged entropies between urban space and its complex eco-cultural environment.
After the necessary efforts put in the recognition of a substantial part of the material heritage, the key issue now is the recovery of the immaterial heritage, which today is still alive in our streets, neighbourhoods, squares and many informal spaces. The new multimedia technologies
and the production of audiovisual materials with an ethnologic perspective can be a valuable way to access to the eco-knowledge of citizens still connected to this heritage. It is as well a more holistic, balanced and participatory way to understand our environment.
Every individual carries his or her own landscape, but we carry a shared collective landscape too. To rescue the different memories on water and water landscapes means to recovery perspectives, gazes, wishes, reflections and countless ways of observing from singularity, not from standardisation or simplification.
